Dodge is listening after all. At least, that appears to be the case. The latest rumor that’s taking the internet by storm is that the supercharged 6.2 Hellcat Hemi is actually making its way back into the Charger as early as next year. I know, that’s not the first time you’ve heard it. But this time, there are some documents to back the claim—allegedly.

The latest generation of the Dodge Charger isn’t a bad car. I’d even go as far as to argue that, out of all the late-model Chargers out there, it’s the best callback to the first and second-generation models Mopar nuts favor that we’ve seen in decades—visually that is. Opening with only the EV version did absolutely tank its reputation, though. That was a wild move that can only be described as a blunder, considering Dodge’s customer base obviously isn’t that demographic.

2026 sales of gas-powered models absolutely blasting EV versions out of the water 15-to-1 only prove that (to no one’s surprise) Dodge customers prefer ICE, but, still, a Charger without a V8 is missing a crucial part of its DNA. Not even the 600-horsepower Super Bees are enough to right that wrong in the eyes of many diehards. But muscle fans may finally be able to rejoice.

Automotive Newshas reported Dodge is planning todrop a Hellcat Hemiin the latest generation of Charger by the end of next year, allegedly backing the claim with internal documentation. Dodge has yet to confirm or deny said plans, but it doesn’t seem that farfetched. Tim Kuniskis himself stated that it simply doesn’t make sense to return the Charger to Hemi V8 power unless they go all the way to the Hellcat, which has all but lost momentum in recent times.

Mopar’s Supercharged V8s Have Only Gotten Stronger

While Dodge muscle cars saw the Hemi get the boot, the fact is that it’s never truly gone the way of the dodo. It’s hung around in the Durango since Hemi muscle was put on hold and recently returned to Ram’s lineup. In fact, it’s only grown stronger, with the TRX dialing output up to 777 hp.

As many people as there are that hate the Charger because of the whole EV blunder, none will turn their nose up at a nearly 800-horsepower variant paired with that legendary Hellcat shriek. And that’s without considering headroom for Redeye or even Demon variants that can join the party later on.

As much sense as this move would make for Dodge, a brand actively trying to reclaim its muscular identity, this is still just another rumor at the end of the day. We Mopar fiends will need to sit tight and wait for Dodge’s word before we can officially celebrate.
