• Marcus Ericsson, Dennis Hauger qualify fourth and fifth in Canada

• Track activity at Markham got underway Saturday following a cancellation of Friday’s sessions

Honda driver Louis Foster scored his second-career pole position, and his first of the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season in today’s qualifying for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham.

The Rahal Letterman Lanigan driver set the fastest lap of the weekend in the final round of knockout-style qualifying, turning a lap of 1:13.2383 around the brand-new Markham street circuit.

Marcus Ericsson qualified fourth for Andretti Global for the second-straight race, while rookie Dennis Hauger qualified fifth for Dale Coyne Racing. Hauger currently holds a 27-point advantage in the Rookie of the Year title fight, 174-147.

Elsewhere for Honda, Scott Dixon qualified ninth and Foster’s RLL teammate Graham Rahal qualified 10th. The third RLL driver, rookie Mick Schumacher, scored a season-best 11th in qualifying, making his first appearance in the Top 12 round of qualifying.

Championship leader Alex Palou came into the weekend with a 110-point margin over his nearest title competitor, but qualified only 12th after an uncharacteristic mistake in qualifying.

Today marked the first day of on-track action in Markham after a delay in the track build cancelled the NTT INDYCAR SERIES practice session originally scheduled for Friday. Instead, the teams and drivers ran both practice sessions and qualifying today ahead of tomorrow’s warm up and race.

Quotes
Louis Foster (#45 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda) qualified first: ‘Alex crashing made things a little easier for us today, but honestly, we had such a good car and a strong margin that we would’ve fought him for pole position anyway. I’m super thankful to Honda for all the amazing power they gave us. Looking at the top 12 all weekend so far, it’s always been Honda cars. We tend to be stronger on the street courses; we work well as a team and as a group of Honda drivers. I’m super happy with that. My car felt great, the Rahal Letterman Lanigan #45 did a really good job, and I’m looking forward to going to sleep tonight and racing tomorrow.’

Marcus Ericsson (#28 Andretti Global Honda) qualified fourth: ‘It was a long day here in Markham with a lot of action. My RVI Group Honda has been really good all day. It’s been really nice to drive, with good drivability and good power down these long straights, especially the back straight. You need a very efficient car there and I think we’ve achieved that. This has set us up really nicely for the race tomorrow on the second row. Can’t wait to go racing!’

Dennis Hauger (#19 Dale Coyne Racing Honda) qualified fifth: ‘Good day! I feel like we started off in pretty strong form already from the garage right into Practice 1. I didn’t really know what to expect going into qualifying but we just took it run by run and we had a solid session with our DCR Honda, so I’m super happy about that. I think that was by far our best qualifying since St. Pete.’
