Ducati has unveiled the 2027 Panigale V2 SP at EICMA 2026, introducing a new track-focused supersport developed specifically for racing homologation. Based on the Panigale V2 S, the SP brings several mechanical upgrades designed to support Ducati’s return to the FIM Supersport World Championship with its latest 890cc V-twin platform. It’s priced at $21,795.

The Panigale V2 SP sits above the standard Panigale V2 and V2 S, bringing a longer swingarm, lighter forged wheels, a dry clutch, and revised aerodynamic components. Interestingly, it retains the same 120-horsepower engine as its siblings. Ducati’s focus is instead on chassis development and race-specific hardware, making this the most specialized version of its new-generation middleweight supersport.

The 890cc V-Twin Stays, But The Clutch Gets An Upgrade

Ducati

Powering the Panigale V2 SP is Ducati’s 890cc, liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin, which debuted with the redesigned Panigale V2 family. Unlike its Superquadro-powered predecessor, this engine ditches desmodromic valve actuation in favor of conventional valve springs and features intake variable valve timing (IVT). It produces a claimed 120 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and 69 pound-feet of torque at 8,250 rpm.

The engine features a 13.1:1 compression ratio, electronic throttle control, and a six-speed transmission with a standard bidirectional quickshifter. Ducati has retained the same engine tune as the Panigale V2 S, but swaps out the latter’s wet clutch for an STM EVO-SBK dry slipper clutch. The racing-derived unit is designed to improve control during aggressive downshifting and allow more precise engine-braking management.

Ducati also says the dry clutch allows the use of its specialized racing oil, which can unlock an additional 1.2 horsepower under the appropriate conditions. Meanwhile, the standard 2-1-2 exhaust system retains its catalytic converter and three oxygen sensors.

A Longer Swingarm Changes The Geometry

Ducati

The most significant chassis change is a redesigned aluminum double-sided swingarm, which is roughly 1.2-inches longer than the unit fitted to the Panigale V2 and V2 S. Inspired by the symmetrical swingarm architecture used on the Panigale V4, the revised component increases wheelbase from 57.7 inches to 58.3 inches. Ducati says the change improves corner-exit stability and steering precision while reducing unwanted wheelies.

The aluminum monocoque frame carries over from the V2 S, as does the premium Öhlins suspension package. Up front, the bike features fully adjustable 43mm NIX30 inverted forks with titanium-nitride-coated tubes and 4.7 inches of travel. A fully adjustable Öhlins monoshock handles rear suspension duties, offering 5.9 inches of travel. Would-be owners will also find five-spoke forged aluminum wheels, which shave 3.3 pounds compared to the cast wheels on the V2 S. Ducati claims the reduction cuts rotational inertia by 27 percent at the front and 21 percent at the rear. The wheels come wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires come in 120/70ZR17 front and 190/55ZR17 rear sizes.

Braking hardware consists of dual 320mm front discs with radially mounted Brembo M50 monobloc calipers and a single 245mm rear disc with a two-piston caliper. The complete package weighs a claimed 388 pounds, matching the V2 S despite the SP’s additional race-oriented equipment.

Electronics Borrowed From Ducati’s Flagship

Ducati

Like the Panigale V4, the V2 SP features an advanced electronics suite supported by a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). This enables cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and adjustable engine-braking intervention. Four riding modes, Race, Sport, Road, and Wet, allow riders to configure the motorcycle for different conditions.

Launch control, a pit-lane speed limiter, and a lap timer are standard. The bike also features a five-inch full-color TFT display with an 800-by-480-pixel resolution, alongside LED lighting and self-canceling turn signals. A taller racing windscreen rounds out the equipment changes, standing 40mm higher than the V2 S unit to provide additional aerodynamic protection. Ducati finishes the motorcycle in its Winter Test livery, combining matte black bodywork with contrasting white accents and white forged wheels.

Where The Panigale V2 SP Fits In

Ducati

At $21,795, the Panigale V2 SP costs $1,800 more than the Panigale V2 S, making its specialized equipment an interesting proposition for riders who regularly attend track days or participate in amateur racing. Its 120-horsepower output remains unchanged, and the V2 SP doesn’t attempt to compete with Ducati’s more powerful Panigale V4 models on outright performance. Instead, its longer wheelbase, dry clutch, forged wheels, and racing homologation credentials give it a more specific purpose within the lineup. For riders interested in Ducati’s latest middleweight platform with hardware developed around competition requirements, the Panigale V2 SP represents the most track-focused option in the V2 family.
