Even brand-new, fresh-out-of-the-factory cars and SUVs can have issues. Fortunately, automakers offer limited warranties to cover repairs or part swaps related to factory defects. Typically, mainstream, high-volume brands like Ford, Honda, and Toyota offer three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty coverage. Some brands, like Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, extend limited warranty coverage out to five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. But the best way to beat the blues is to stick with a luxury car or SUV option with solid reliability scores.

2026 Audi Q3: Reliable Luxury After The Warranty Runs Out

For 2026, the Audi Q3 gets a total refresh as it enters its third generation. The update changes things inside and out, giving the Q3 an angular front end and a rakish squint. While the interior gets an update as well, the cabin is still quintessentially Audi. That means luxury touches like sound-deadening glass and optional wood trim. In an attempt to bridge the power gap between the Q3 and rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1, Audi gave its subcompact luxury SUV a 255-horsepower turbocharged inline-four engine and a quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

As expected, the Q3 uses Audi’s all-wheel-drive system instead of sending power to the front or rear wheels exclusively. Speaking of the ride, the 2026 model gets an updated suspension setup over the 2025 model. Though the Q3 is still firmly seated in the subcompact category, cargo capacity increased with the update. This year, Audi says the Q3 will accommodate up to 29 cubic feet of storage, compared to 23.7 in last year’s Q3 Premium 40 TFSI. Fold that rear seat, and the Q3 opens up to a furniture-friendly 48 cubic feet, the same as the 2025 model. While options are plentiful, the S-Line Quattro is the Q3’s only available trim for now.

Top Scores In Reliability

In terms of dependability, the Audi Q3 earns an 86 out of 100 from J.D. Power in the Quality and Reliability category. That score takes into account reported defects, design flaws, and owner-reported issues. It’s also enough to earn the Q3 the top spot in the segment, earning a higher overall score than the Lexus UX, BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Volvo XC40. The BMW X1, for example, received a 76 out of 100 from JD Power for overall reliability, a solid 10 points behind the subcompact Audi SUV.

The Audi Q3 also tops iSeeCars’ list of the most reliable luxury subcompact SUVs, earning a 7.7 out of 10. That’s enough to beat the X1 again, which received a 7.5 out of 10 for overall reliability. Of course, since the Q3 is new for 2026, some growing pains might come up as it spends more time on the road. That said, Volkswagen Group recalled 6,077 new U.S.-market Q3s for a sunroof control unit malfunction that could cause the sunroof to operate incorrectly. As of this writing, though, that’s the only recall for the 2026 model.

Four Years And 50,000 Miles Of Coverage

So, what about the warranty? The 2026 Audi Q3, like its larger siblings, comes with a four-year, 50,000-mile limited warranty. That coverage expires with whatever threshold drivers reach first, be it time or mileage. As for powertrain coverage, the Q3’s powertrain warranty covers the SUV for the same four years or 50,000 miles. Audi does offer complimentary maintenance for up to three years or 30,000 miles, though. The Q3’s basic and powertrain warranties are enough to match those of its fellow German luxury counterparts from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

A Success In The U.S.

What do you do when you have a sales success like the Audi Q5? You make a smaller one, of course. Though the Q3 got its full refresh for 2026, the little luxe SUV still serves as the automaker’s resident subcompact SUV offering, acting as something of a shrunken Q5. Audi says it sold 23,581 Q3s by the end of Q4 2025. That’s enough to establish the Audi Q3 as the automaker’s second-best-selling model, just behind the top-selling Q5. In comparison, Audi says it moved 46,215 Q5s by the end of last year.

For 2026, the Audi Q3 gets welcome updates, including a more muscular turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a dual-clutch transmission, and more interior space. Here’s the thing, though: the 2026 Audi Q3 is all-new. And with updates, issues pop up from time to time. Only time will tell what factory-defect gremlins accompany the Q3’s third-generation refresh. That said, the Q3’s owner-reported reliability scores reveal a reputation for dependability, something any luxury SUV shopper can appreciate.
