Recent reports point toward a radically different four-door Camaro arriving around 2029, but this concept takes the opposite route. It keeps the classic two-door coupe formula, gives it a sharper modern body, and imagines one huge change underneath: electric power.

This hypothetical next-gen Chevrolet Camaro keeps the long hood, short rear deck, low roofline, and broad rear haunches that made recent Camaros instantly recognizable. The profile is familiar, with a tight greenhouse and heavy shoulders, but the surfacing is cleaner. It looks like an evolution of the Camaro rather than a complete reset, which is probably exactly what many American muscle car buyers would want after several years without a new one.
Up front, a thin full-width lighting element cuts across the nose, while the traditional grille has almost disappeared. The aggressive lower fascia keeps some muscle car menace, yet the mostly closed upper section is the first clue that this version is imagined as an EV. There’s still a pronounced hood bulge, even though an electric powertrain wouldn’t need one in the traditional sense. But hey, it’s all about the aesthetics here for now.
Design Exercise
The rear follows the same formula. A full-width taillight treatment, integrated spoiler, broad diffuser, and planted stance give it the weight of a modern performance coupe. Crucially, there are no visible exhaust tips. That separates this concept from the next Camaro being discussed in reports, because the production car is widely expected to retain internal-combustion power. Chevrolet hasn’t announced an electric Camaro like this, so it stays a design exercise rather than a preview of confirmed production hardware.
The Catch Is This Camaro Trades V8 Grunt For EV Speed
If Chevrolet ever built a two-door Camaro EV, acceleration would be the easy part. Modern Electric Cars already show how effective instant torque and all-wheel drive can be. A dual-motor Camaro could give Chevy a fast electric coupe in a market that still has relatively few of them, while a hotter version could chase acceleration figures once reserved for supercars.
The harder job would be making it feel like a Camaro. For decades, the name has been tied to rear-wheel-drive balance, big engines, manual transmissions, and the sound and vibration that come with them. An EV successor could easily deliver huge off-the-line performance, but speed alone wouldn’t replace the mechanical personality that made the best Chevrolet Camaros special.
Same, But Different
And on top of that, weight would matter just as much. Batteries add mass quickly, and the sixth-generation Camaro earned much of its reputation through handling rather than straight-line speed alone. A believable electric successor would need aggressive weight control and a chassis tuned around steering response and rotation. Rear-biased all-wheel drive could preserve some of that attitude while giving an EV Camaro the traction needed to challenge future electric performance cars.
That’s also why this concept’s coupe proportions are important. Ford still sells the Mustang as a two-door pony car, while Dodge has expanded the Charger into two- and four-door territory. A Chevrolet Camaro EV shaped like this would give Chevy a visually direct answer to the Mustang while differentiating itself through propulsion. In a North American market packed with performance SUVs and heavy luxury EVs, a low electric muscle coupe could feel genuinely different.
The Real Next-Gen Camaro May Be Heading In A Completely Different Direction
Going by current reports, Chevy’s preparing a much bigger reinvention. The next Camaro is expected around the 2029 model year and could become a four-door performance sedan for the first time. It’s reportedly set to use an updated version of GM’s Alpha 2 architecture, related to the next Cadillac CT5, with rear-wheel-drive fundamentals still central to the package. There’s also talk of multiple powertrains and even a manual transmission.
If that comes to fruition, that shift could make the Camaro much more practical. The 2024 Camaro rode on a 110.7-inch wheelbase and measured 188.3 inches long, while the current CT5 stretches 116.0 inches between the axles and 193.8 inches overall. The sedan also offers 37.9 inches of rear legroom compared with the old Camaro’s 29.9 inches. If the next Camaro follows that packaging direction, Chevrolet could trade some classic pony-car intimacy for everyday usability.
Topsy Turvy
Performance should remain central if the reports hold. A high performance variant is expected, and reporting has linked the project to V8 power, with some speculation around GM’s future 6.7-liter small-block. Chevrolet hasn’t officially confirmed the final engine lineup, so those details remain fluid. What appears increasingly consistent is the basic idea: a rear-drive, four-door Camaro with internal combustion engines rather than an all-electric two-door coupe.
All in though, we’re on the fence a bit. The production Camaro may keep combustion and gain two doors, while this imagined version keeps two doors and loses combustion. Either path would reinvent one of America’s most recognizable performance car names in a completely different way, but if Chevy were reading this, what route would you ask them to go down?
