Dodge Turns Up The Heat At Roadkill Nights With Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen Concept
Dodge arrived at Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge with more than tire smoke. Announced August 7 ahead of the M1 Concourse event in Pontiac, Michigan, the brand pulled the wraps off the Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen Concept — a three-row muscle SUV built to show what factory customization can look like when Dodge stops playing it safe.
Alongside the concept, Dodge previewed a new Color Jailbreak program aimed at bringing custom-paint options to a much wider audience, introduced Tinted Dual Stripes for both Durango and Charger, and added a new Redeye exterior color and Brass Monkey Package to the Durango lineup. It’s a lot to unpack from one event — and most of it points toward where Dodge wants to take personalization next.
Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen Concept: Bold Colors, Stealthy Details
The Smokescreen Concept starts with the Durango R/T 392’s 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 — 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque — paired with standard all-wheel drive. Performance figures are NHRA-certified: 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds and a quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds. The powertrain isn’t new, but everything wrapped around it is.
Exterior finish is Smokescreen paint with a Cryo Blue graphic pattern that originates near the front fascia and flows rearward across the bodyside. The concept swaps traditional R/T 392 badging for a subtle “392” graphic integrated into the Cryo Blue accents — a stealthier nod to the HEMI under the hood. Amber daytime running lamps, Smokescreen brake calipers with Cryo Blue SRT branding, Cryo Blue mirror caps, and dark exhaust tips round out the exterior. Underfoot, 20-by-10-inch forged Y-spoke wheels wear a matching Cryo Blue finish.
Inside, Petrol Blue Laguna leather performance seats with dual silver stitching set the tone. A suede-wrapped steering wheel, suede instrument panel bolster with silver stitching, and carbon-fiber applique trim give the cabin a driver-focused feel that matches the exterior’s intent. Dodge says the concept was directly inspired by enthusiast customizations — and the design choices make that easy to believe.
Color Jailbreak: Custom Paint for More Than the Halo Few
The bigger news for the broader Dodge community may be the Color Jailbreak program. Previously, deep custom-color options were reserved for halo vehicles — think the Challenger SRT Demon 170 and the Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak. The new initiative is designed to extend that kind of personalization to a wider range of buyers at a more accessible price point.
“Dodge owners have never been shy about standing out, and Roadkill Nights gives us the perfect place to announce an all-new custom paint program right from the factory,” said Dodge CEO Matt McAlear. “Nothing cements the authenticity of a 1:1 car like a special paint, and we want to make that more affordable than ever. Whether it’s a favorite body color or you are looking to push the limits to the edge with unique calipers, stripes, spoiler color or even two-tone, we’ve got you in mind.”
At the event, Dodge displayed a 2027 Charger Scat Pack in Cha Ching Green and a Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak in Toxic Orange as examples of what the program can deliver. Showgoers could also vote on high-impact Charger color options displayed at the event. Full program details — including pricing — are expected later this year.
Tinted Dual Stripes, Redeye Color, and the Brass Monkey Package
Roadkill Nights also marked the public debut of Tinted Dual Stripes, a new factory stripe option coming to both Durango and Charger. Unlike conventional solid-color stripes, these use a translucent tinted finish that lets the body color show through underneath — creating a tone-on-tone effect that shifts character depending on the paint it sits over. The full-length treatment runs nose to tail and is factory-installed for OEM-quality fit and durability.
A 2027 Durango GT HEMI Tow ‘n Go on display demonstrated the full personalization stack: Redeye exterior paint — a new color recently added to the Durango palette — paired with Tinted Dual Stripes and the new Brass Monkey Package. That package adds 20-by-10-inch forged Brass Monkey wheels and black fender badging with brass tracers to GT HEMI models, giving the mid-range Durango a sharper visual edge without stepping up to SRT territory. Redeye joins B5 Blue, Destroyer Grey, Green Machine, Night Moves, Pitch Black, Red Oxide, and White Knuckle on the 2027 Durango color menu and is available to order now.
The Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen Concept goes on display August 8 at M1 Concourse, where Dodge says it will continue gathering feedback from fans on factory customization direction. Between the concept, the Color Jailbreak preview, and the new stripe and color options, Roadkill Nights 2026 is shaping up as a clear signal of where Dodge wants to take personalization — and for Durango buyers, there’s more coming before the year is out.
