Sorry, Rockstar. While we can appreciate the work you put into the Grand Theft Auto story, that’s just not what we gearheads were paying attention to in the extended gameplay look that just dropped. Instead, we were eyeballing all the cool cars that we’ll get behind the wheel of.

As with the rest of the GTA lineup, there are no officially licensed cars in-game. Seeing how big this game is, getting the real-deal versions of our favorite cars in the mix would push the estimated billion-dollar budget over the limit. The devs clearly put in the work to get us as close as we’re going to get, though. With all the excitement of police chases and shootouts, the knock-off versions of everyone’s favorite rides will certainly scratch the itch. Here’s a look at eight cars inspired by real-world rides we can’t wait to virtually tear up when GTA VI goes live this November.

“Chevelle/Monte/Nova”

If you’ve been following GTA VI for any amount of time, chances are you’ve already seen this car. This is the classic muscle car that’s been featured everywhere, and even as a four-door, it looks impressive. The profile shows body lines clearly inspired by a ‘70-’73 Chevelle, while the front end bears a resemblance to a first-gen Monte Carlo with some Nova vibes as well. Hopefully, this isn’t the sole classic muscle car in the game, and we highly doubt it will be. But even if it were, there’s no denying that it’s hard to go wrong with oldschool Chevy.

“BMW E30”

Another car we get an early look at in the extended look is a clear tribute to the classic BMW E30. Its boxy dimensions are unforgettable, and while it may not be the fastest car in the game, the nostalgia is more than enough excitement for some players. That drop top also delivers the Floridian vibes many are tuning in for.

“Dodge Challenger”

Shortly after the “E30” appears on screen, we get a look at a familiar face hiding in regular traffic. While the taillights deviate from those found on the real deal, it’s clearly a nod to the Challenger. Returning players will recognize this as the Bravado Gauntlet Hellfire, which debuted in Grand Theft Auto Online. Maybe not a newcomer, but definitely welcomed.

“Nissan Skyline”

No matter which camp you’re in, Everyone loves a classic Skyline, and GTA VI is here to deliver. It looks like the devs went all-out to include some proper car culture in the latest installment. We only see the car for a brief moment and exclusively from the rear, but those taillights are unmistakable and the wing and graphics make it clear that Leonida’s street scene is wild.

“Mercedes E-Class”

One of the focal points of this extended gameplay feature is the getaway segment where Lucia and Jason help a bank robber evade the police. The vehicle of choice was what appears to take inspiration from an older E-Class. Unfortunately, the car is short-lived, as it’s disposed of following the chase. Still, it delivers plenty of white-knuckle action during the chase, giving us a look at some impressive police pursuit vehicles, including Rams, Chargers, and Durangos.

“BMW 6 Series”

Rockstar holds nothing back when it comes to car culture in GTA VI. During this extended trailer, we’re given a look at some closed-course racing goodness with a lookalike of the BMW 6 Series front and center. It’s racing alongside the aforementioned Charger and Challenger as well, with what appears to be a Mustang just ahead. This event shows tons of promise for gearheads, but many are certainly ready to wreak havoc in the streets with this formidable BMW.

2

“Lamborghini”

What’s GTA without an exotic? This extended look is somewhat barren in this department, with no Ferraris or Lambos acting as the star of the show in any driving sequence. They’re not totally absent, though. At one moment, we can see some sort of Lamborghini tribute hooked up to a tow vehicle. Sure, this one was repossessed, but we’re confident we’ll have our chance to experience supercar power this winter.

“C8 Corvette”

At the close of the police getaway sequence, our anti-heroes are seen escaping in a cargo van. As they motor along, two more supercars drive by. While the one in the rear is hard to make out, the white car tearing by is clearly meant to serve as Rockstar’s version of the C8 Corvette, meaning we’re in for all sorts of insane automotive action once this game actually drops.
