Royal Enfield has finally revealed the specifications of its long-awaited Himalayan 750, and the numbers are raising some eyebrows. With just 54 horsepower and nearly 500 pounds to haul around, the new adventure bike looks seriously outgunned by its rivals. But there’s a catch. Royal Enfield has never played by the same rules, and its biggest advantage could be something entirely different.

Here’s how the 2027 Himalayan 750 stacks up against the biggest names in the middleweight adventure motorcycle segment.

Figures are manufacturer-claimed or approximate, depending on market. Himalayan weight is quoted with 90% fuel. Kawasaki LT weight includes approximately 20 pounds of touring equipment. Prices exclude destination and dealer fees.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 Vs Honda Transalp 750

The Honda Transalp is arguably one of the Himalayan’s toughest competitors. Its 755cc parallel-twin produces approximately 83 horsepower in U.S. specification, giving it a massive advantage over the Royal Enfield’s 54.3 horsepower. At 468 pounds, the Honda is also around 26 pounds lighter.

The Transalp’s 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel make it better suited to challenging trails. Meanwhile, the Himalayan’s lower 32.1-inch seat makes it considerably more accessible. The Honda also costs $10,199, leaving plenty of room for Royal Enfield to compete on price.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 Vs Yamaha Ténéré 700

If off-road performance is the priority, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 looks like the clear winner on paper. Its 689cc CP2 twin produces roughly 72 horsepower, while its 459-pound wet weight makes it approximately 35 pounds lighter than the Himalayan.

The Yamaha also offers longer suspension travel, greater ground clearance, and a 21/18-inch wheel combination. However, its towering 34.4-inch seat height can intimidate shorter riders. The Himalayan sacrifices some serious off-road ability for a lower seat, a more road-friendly setup, and potentially a considerably lower asking price.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 Vs Suzuki V-Strom 800

This is where things get interesting. The standard V-Strom 800 is perhaps the Himalayan’s closest rival in terms of its intended purpose. Both use 19-inch front wheels, 17-inch rear wheels, and weigh approximately 492 to 494 pounds.

However, Suzuki’s 776cc parallel-twin produces approximately 83 horsepower, giving it nearly 30 horsepower more than the Royal Enfield. The V-Strom also offers a larger 5.3-gallon fuel tank compared to the Himalayan’s 4.7 gallons. At $10,249, the Suzuki isn’t particularly expensive, but Royal Enfield could make the choice considerably tougher with aggressive pricing.

The V-Strom 800DE takes the standard V-Strom formula further off-road with a 21-inch front wheel, longer suspension travel, and 8.7 inches of ground clearance. At 507 pounds, it’s actually heavier than the Himalayan, but its substantially stronger engine makes up for the extra weight.

The Royal Enfield counters with an easier-to-manage 32.1-inch seat, compared to the Suzuki’s 33.7 inches. With a starting price of $11,799, the 800DE is also one of the more expensive Japanese options in this comparison.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 Vs Aprilia Tuareg 660

Aprilia

The Aprilia Tuareg 660 makes the Himalayan look particularly heavy. Despite having a smaller 659cc engine, the Italian adventure bike produces 80 horsepower and weighs approximately 449 pounds. That’s nearly 45 pounds less than the Royal Enfield while offering significantly more power.

It also boasts 9.4 inches of suspension travel at both ends and a proper 21/18-inch wheel combination. The Tuareg is unquestionably the more serious off-road machine on paper, but its $12,499 starting price puts it in a different financial league.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 Vs Kawasaki Versys 650

The Kawasaki Versys 650 is another road-biased adventure tourer, making it an interesting alternative to the Himalayan. Its 649cc parallel-twin produces 66 horsepower, while the LT version weighs approximately 503 pounds with its touring equipment.

However, the Kawasaki’s 17-inch wheels and shorter suspension travel limit its off-road ambitions. The Himalayan has an advantage when the pavement ends, thanks to its larger front wheel and greater ground clearance. The Versys 650 LT starts at $10,399 in the U.S., although it includes factory touring luggage.

How Much Will The Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 Cost In The US?

Royal Enfield

Here’s where Royal Enfield could turn the entire middleweight adventure motorcycle segment upside down.

The company has confirmed a starting price of just £6,999 in the UK for the Himalayan 750 with alloy wheels. The tubeless spoked-wheel version costs £7,299, while the fully equipped Antarctic Silver version with GIVI luggage starts at £8,699.

These prices are particularly interesting when compared to the Royal Enfield Bear 650 for example. That motorcycle starts at around £6,799 in the UK and $7,299 in the United States. Considering the Himalayan 750 costs only £200 more in the UK, a U.S. starting price of approximately $8,000 seems entirely plausible.

Of course, Royal Enfield hasn’t announced American pricing, and this remains an estimate rather than an official figure.

But at around $8,000, the Himalayan 750 would undercut the Honda Transalp, Suzuki V-Strom 800, Yamaha Ténéré 700, and practically every major rival in this comparison by thousands of dollars.

And that’s precisely the point. Royal Enfield was never going to beat Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, or Aprilia in an outright horsepower contest. Instead, the Himalayan 750 promises a more accessible adventure motorcycle with a comfortable seat height, useful touring equipment, cruise control, cornering ABS, traction control, and a characterful twin-cylinder engine.

If Royal Enfield gets the American price right, the Himalayan 750 might not need to outperform its rivals. It just needs to make buyers question whether spending thousands more is really necessary.
