The outdoor racing season just wrapped up, but the 2027 schedule is announced and returns on Memorial Day weekend. The AMA Pro Motocross Championship has released its 2027 calendar, and the 11-race season gets underway May 29 at Southern California’s Fox Raceway at Pala. From there, the series crosses 10 states before the title is settled August 28 at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Unlike Supercross, which runs inside stadiums, motocross takes place outdoors on long, natural-terrain courses. Every stop on the schedule is called a National, and fans usually refer to each one by its track’s short name, such as Pala, Hangtown, or Ironman. At each National, riders in both classes race twice, and those races are known as motos. That adds up to 22 motos per class over the summer.

This will be the 56th season of the championship. The Nationals also make up rounds 18 through 28 of the Monster Energy SMX World Championship, which pairs the outdoor series with the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship that runs from January to May. Riders get the usual two-week break after the Supercross finale on May 15 before the gate drops at Pala.

The Road From Pala to Ironman

After the opener, the series heads to Northern California for the Hangtown Motocross Classic at Prairie City SVRA on June 5, then climbs to the mile-high altitude of Colorado’s Thunder Valley Motocross Park on June 12. High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania, closes a four-race opening stretch with its traditional Father’s Day weekend date on June 19.

Following a weekend off, RedBud MX in Buchanan, Michigan, hosts its Fourth of July celebration on July 3, near the season’s halfway point. Southwick, Spring Creek, and Washougal follow, with Washougal on July 24 serving as the last stop in the Pacific Time Zone. Riders then get two weekends off before the stretch run: Unadilla in Central New York on August 14, Budds Creek in Southern Maryland on August 21, and the Ironman finale on August 28.

Who To Watch

450SMX: Lawrence Brothers Lead the Field

Last summer’s 450 title came down to two points. Australia’s Hunter Lawrence edged his brother, Jett, at Ironman to claim his first premier class crown. Both are set to return, along with former champion Chase Sexton, third-place finisher Haiden Deegan, and SMX World Champion Jorge Prado of Spain. Belgium’s Lucas Coenen, who raced as a guest at select Nationals last summer, joins the class full-time.

250SMX: Davies Aims to Repeat

Cole Davies won the 250 title in 2026 and will try to do it again. His closest pursuers from last season, Julien Beaumer in second and Levi Kitchen in third, are both back, and Kitchen arrives with momentum after claiming the SMX World Championship. Jo Shimoda, Seth Hammaker, and Chance Hymas round out a strong group. Sacha Coenen, Lucas’s twin, steps in full-time after winning at Southwick as a guest rider in June 2026.

Getting Tickets and Watching From Home

Tickets are sold event by event, with links for all 11 Nationals posted on the official Pro Motocross schedule. Fans who want early access can sign up for the SMX preferred-customer presale, which opened October 6.

The 2027 TV schedule has not been announced. Last summer, Peacock carried every Pro Motocross round live, and select motos also aired on NBC and NBCSN. SMX Video Pass offers another way to stream the series.

After the Final Moto

Once the outdoor season wraps up, the series moves on to the SMX Playoffs on September 11 and 18, followed by the SMX World Championship Final on September 25. Locations for all three events will be revealed in January.
