The Yamaha Ténéré platform established itself as a dominant force in the middleweight ADV segment, via its accessible MSRP, as well as its on- and off-road performance. The 2026 Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid builds on that sturdy ADV foundation while raising the bar with premium upgrades, including improved suspension, large-capacity dual fuel tanks, IMU-aided electronics, and more. The Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid is based on the standard Ténéré 700 model. It retains much of the hardware, including the double-cradle frame, the CP2 parallel-cylinder engine, 21/18-inch spoked wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR rubber, Brembo brakes, and more. However, it adds beefier suspension, a larger fuel tank, and six-axis IMU-based lean-sensitive rider aids. These changes are said to enhance the bike’s long-distance comfort and off-roading capabilities.

Ergonomics And A Fuel Tank To Go The Distance

Yamaha says the World Raid model features enhanced ergonomics over the standard model for more comfortable long-distance riding, starting with a one-piece rally-style seat that allows better freedom of movement. A new windscreen and easily removable side deflectors improve wind protection. The footpegs are also larger and feature removable rubber pads for better highway comfort.

Unlike the standard T7’s single 4.2-gallon fuel tank, the World Raid uses dual aluminum fuel tanks, increasing capacity by 1.8 gallons to 6.1 gallons and giving the bike a claimed 300-mile range. The dual-tank structure acts as a baffle to reduce fuel sloshing, which the company says improves handling, while the low-set fuel pump centralizes mass.

The Ténéré 700 World Raid also upgrades the suspension. Up front, the standard model’s 43mm fork is replaced by a fully adjustable 46mm KYB upside-down unit featuring friction-reducing Kashima coatings, revised spring and damping specs., Meanwhile, wheel travel increases from 8.3 inches to 9.1 inches. In the rear, the fully adjustable link-type KYB monoshock gains a slightly longer 106mm stroke, increasing rear wheel travel from 7.9 inches to 8.6 inches.

The suspension upgrade also raises ground clearance from 9.4 inches to 10 inches. However, the knock-on effect is that the seat height grows an additional 0.6 inches over the standard model to 35 inches overall. The World Raid also features a new 16-step adjustable steering damper. These changes add a slight weight penalty, as the World Raid tips the scales at 485 pounds, nearly 26 pounds more than the standard T7.

Six-Axis IMU-Based Rider Aids

On the tech front, the Ténéré 700 World Raid shares the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) enabled power modes (Sport and Explorer), 6.3-inch color TFT display with mobile connectivity, and new-generation LED headlight with the standard model. Yamaha has added cruise control with a switchable and adjustable speed limiter, an exclusive Raid display theme, and a six-axis inertial measurement unit. The latter enables lean-sensitive 3-level traction control and slide control, as well as ABS and brake control that can be switched off at the rear or completely.

The Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid enters a segment of middleweight ADVs that focus on long-distance adventures. Its closest rival is the BMW F 900 GS Adventure, starting at $15,195 MSRP. The Beemer ADV offers a similar 6-gallon fuel tank and fully adjustable suspension, but has the upper hand with standard heated grips, a luggage carrier, and available Dynamic ESA and keyless ride. The F 900 GS Adventure, however, is 57 pounds heavier and, being a BMW, expect the price to rise quickly as you tick the options boxes. The current “as shown” F 900 GS Adventure on the brand’s homepage commands a lofty $18,810 MSRP.

Similarly, the $17,595 MSRP Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro offers a 5.28-gallon fuel tank, over 100 horsepower, Brembo Stylema calipers, and a standard quickshifter. The Tiger also weighs 18 pounds more than the World Raid.

The Ducati DesertX V2 ($16,995 MSRP) and Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally ($13,999 MSRP) also technically rival the World Raid, but both have sub-5-gallon fuel tanks, which limits their range comparatively. In this context, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid undercuts the rivals while offering adequate performance, off-road-ready suspension with around 9-inch wheel travel, lean-sensitive rider aids, and the largest fuel tank in the segment.
