Honda and EICMA have had a solid relationship in the past. We’ve seen the brand reveal several exciting machines that have gone on to become icons of their segments. A prime example is the True Adventure concept from over a decade ago that eventually birthed the Africa Twin we all adore today. Building on that lineage, the world’s largest two-wheeler brand made sure the 2026 EICMA had no shortage of fireworks. Not only did we see sizable updates to some of its flagship models, but we also got a look into the brand’s future. On that note, here are all the highlights of Honda’s fantastic EICMA.

Honda’s Flagship Adventure Bike And Superbike Have Become Better Than Ever

Perhaps the biggest reasons for Honda’s fantastic outing were the two flagships: the Africa Twin and CBR1000RR-R. Both of these have received their biggest overhauls since their inception, taking the already established package to new heights. More importantly, most of the updates focus on improving the riding experience rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. Here’s a lowdown on both.

The Africa Twin Has A Bigger Engine, More Tech, And A New Variant

Honda

The CRF Africa Twin started off as a 1000cc model. Now, the 2027 Africa Twin’s engine raises the cubic capacity to 1,131cc via a two mm wider bore of 94mm over the 1,084cc outgoing model. That brings a sizable 16 percent increase in power to 117 horsepower and a six percent increase in torque to 88 lb-ft. A new intake with larger 52mm throttle bodies, a higher 12.1:1 compression ratio, new pistons, updated counterbalancers, and an updated port and combustion chamber design are also present. As always, two transmission options are available: six-speed MT and six-speed DCT.

As for tech, the Africa Twin is more loaded than ever. The two big highlights come in the suspension and touring equipment departments. The former now comprises Showa’s EERA suspension as standard (it was optional earlier), which allows effortless adjustment on the fly. As for the latter, you now get Honda’s first motorcycle radar system. Collision warnings, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control–you name it, and the Africa Twin has it.

This is limited to the top variants, though. Speaking of which, the Africa Twin now comes in three variants. The base keeps things simple, the Adventure Sports brings a more road-focused approach, and a new-for-2027 Enduro Sports version ups the off-road focus. The latter has extra suspension travel and a rally bike-like aesthetic, while retaining the same performance.

The CBR1000RR-R Is Sleeker And Punchier To Aim At WSBK Accolades

The CBR1000RR-R is next, and the updates are equally exciting. The 1,000cc inline-four engine retains the near-215 HP output but gains a new two-stage Variable Air Funnel system. This is a first for a Honda superbike and is said to help boost mid-range, which has been the CBR’s pain point since its inception. Besides that, a new piston crown and combustion chamber design increases compression from 13.6:1 to 13.8:1, while the cam timing is also revised and the valve train has been strengthened for durability.

On the go, you will also enjoy more feel from the chassis. That’s down to the revised twin-spar frame and a new swingarm, both of which aim to reduce lateral stiffness by around 20 percent. Weight-saving measures are also aplenty. Honda claims the swingarm is 200 grams lighter, the lighter 520 chain shaves off another 270 grams, and the new cast-aluminum wheels shed 190 grams up front and 590 grams at the rear.

The final big highlight is the design. Right from the fairings to the lights, Honda has revamped the bodywork. There are no protruding wings anymore, as they’ve been tucked inside the fairing, while the rear section has guides to improve mid-corner stability. You should also know the base variant comes in gray, while the SP and new-for-2027 HRC Works Edition wear the Grand Prix Red WSBK-inspired colors. The latter two also have up-specced suspension compared to the base bike, although the rest of the mechanicals remain the same.

The V3R Naked And Sports Bike Concepts Show What Honda’s Future Holds

Honda

As exciting as the flagships were, Honda didn’t hold back with its concepts, either. The V3R 900 made its third appearance at the EICMA, and now, it was shown in its production-ready form. So the motorcycle not only had proper road-ready bodywork, but also a production version of the unique ‘V3’ engine. Honda boldly claims the 900cc engine is capable of producing an output comparable to a 1200cc bike. The credit for that goes to the world’s first E-compressor setup. This works like an electrified supercharger, forcing extra air into the engine, but unlike a supercharger, it does these things electronically. So the power boost is better spread across the RPMs.

While there was a separate presentation for the naked bike, Honda also slyly teased a sports bike based around the V3R platform. This has a similar chassis and engine setup as the naked, but adds a handful of sporty elements as expected from a sports bike. So clip-on handlebars, a nose-heavy design, and full fairings are all present. Interestingly, the fairings also have a lot of aerodynamic elements, some of which seem too extreme for a production bike. That’s why our render of the V3R Super Sport takes a more conservative approach in comparison.

An EV Concept Took Things To The Next Level

Honda

Finally, Honda also showed an EV concept that took the internet by storm. Called the ‘Outlier’, it is said to propose a new direction for Honda two-wheelers after 2030. How does the two-wheeler do that, you ask? Well, by using the advantages of an electric powertrain to its benefit. So the electric motors are housed inside the wheels, and the mid-section has a horizontal battery. That pushes the saddle back for a laid-back riding position, and since there’s no fuel tank, the handlebar is easily accessible. A Buell-like perimeter disc is present, too. Whether this will enter production remains unknown, though.
