This Daytona-Style Dodge Charger Packs A 1,100-HP Surprise
Somewhere along the line, somebody looked at a 1970 Dodge Charger and decided it simply wasn’t ridiculous enough. The result is “Sinister,” a three-year custom muscle car build that combines Daytona looks, a supercharged 572 cubic inch Hemi, and enough horsepower to embarrass most supercars built this century. It makes around 1,100 horsepower at the rear wheels, which means the loudest thing about this Mopar probably isn’t the exhaust. It’s the rear tires begging for mercy.
This Supercharged Hemi Makes More Power Than Most Race Cars
If the Daytona-inspired nose cone and towering rear wing don’t grab your attention, the engine certainly will. Sitting under the hood is a monstrous 572 cubic inch Hemi built by Indy Cylinder Heads, and it is anything but stock. Feeding the beast is a ProCharger F-3 supercharger pushing around 7 PSI of boost while running on E85, helping this Charger produce an astonishing 1,100 horsepower at the rear wheels.
That is not crank horsepower. That is what actually makes it to the pavement.
Supporting the monster engine is an E85 fuel system, a Moroso vacuum pump, and a Rossler Turbo 400 automatic transmission equipped with an air shifter, transbrake, and the choice of automatic or manual reverse shifting. A 10-inch torque converter with a 2,200 RPM stall speed ensures this thing launches as hard as it looks, while a Dana 60 rear axle with Strange axles is more than capable of surviving the punishment.
The dyno sheet from DynoWerks is included with the car, which is always nice when someone inevitably asks if it really makes that kind of power.
This Charger Looks Like A Daytona After Spending Time In The Gym
There is no mistaking what inspired this build. Wolfpack Rides transformed the Charger with a full 1969 Daytona style nose cone and the signature rear wing that made the original aero cars some of the most recognizable muscle cars ever built. Finished in the iconic Plum Crazy Purple with a black vinyl top, this custom Charger looks every bit as outrageous as its name suggests.
The drag-style big and little wheel setup leaves no doubt about its intentions, giving the car that classic Pro Street stance enthusiasts have loved for decades. Even the undercarriage has been detailed to show quality, proving this wasn’t a build that focused only on straight line performance. Every angle has been carefully thought out, making it just as impressive parked under bright lights as it would be ripping down the quarter mile.
It Has The Comforts Of A Modern Muscle Car Too
A lot of thousand horsepower builds forget about comfort, but this Charger clearly did not get that memo. The cabin features black leather bucket seats borrowed from a 2000 Dodge Viper, along with air conditioning, power windows, ceramic-coated tinted glass, and electric power steering. Reverse and forward-facing cameras make maneuvering a lot easier, especially when you’re dealing with a giant rear wing that blocks half the view behind you.
AutoMeter Sport Comp Monster gauges keep an eye on the important stuff, while four-wheel power disc brakes provide the confidence needed to rein in all that horsepower when the fun is over.
There is no shortage of custom Chargers out there, but very few go all in quite like this one. Between the Daytona styling, four digit rear wheel horsepower, and a build quality that took three years to perfect, Sinister feels less like a restomod and more like the kind of machine Mopar fans doodled in the margins of their school notebooks. Now it is heading to Mecum Harrisburg, where it is almost guaranteed to become one of the auction’s biggest conversation starters.
