The Buzz Awards are back, and this year, the competition is even more exciting. Brought to you by the teams at HotCars, TopSpeed, and CarBuzz, the Buzz Awards celebrate the very best cars, trucks, and SUVs that have impressed us, surprised us, and occasionally made us question the state of our savings account.

Together, our three automotive publications under the Valnet Auto Group umbrella bring decades of experience, a serious passion for cars, and plenty of opinions to the table. From ridiculously powerful supercars to practical family SUVs and the latest electric vehicles, our mission remains the same. We want to recognize the machines that genuinely deserve your attention.

Last year’s inaugural Buzz Awards set the stage, but this year we have a fresh new lineup of some extraordinary vehicles. We’ve got American muscle going head-to-head with Italian exotics, electric SUVs challenging traditional luxury vehicles, and wild off-road machines fighting for bragging rights. And yes, there have already been plenty of disagreements.

How The Buzz Awards Work

The formula hasn’t changed much, and neither has our enthusiasm for a good automotive argument. Our reviewing editors from HotCars, TopSpeed, and CarBuzz come together to evaluate the contenders across different categories, considering everything from performance and technology to practicality, value, and that all-important fun factor.

Naturally, narrowing down the contenders is easier said than done. Everyone has their favorites, and nobody wants to see their preferred machine get knocked out. But after plenty of discussions, debates, and voting, we’ve settled on three finalists in each of our six categories.

Now comes the difficult part. Picking the winners.

Here are the official nominees for the second annual Buzz Awards.

The Best Performance Vehicle For 2027

Let’s get the obvious stuff out of the way. We love horsepower. Lots of it. But winning our performance category takes more than just having the biggest numbers on a spec sheet. We’re looking for machines that deliver spectacular acceleration, exceptional handling, serious engineering, and the kind of driving experience that makes you want to take the long way home. This year’s shortlist is particularly outrageous.

2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 / ZR1X

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X
Chevrolet

Chevrolet has officially taken the Corvette into supercar-killing territory. The ZR1 is already an absolute monster, but the electrified, all-wheel-drive ZR1X takes things even further. With ridiculous power, sophisticated aerodynamics, and performance that challenges some of the world’s most expensive exotics, America’s sports car is no longer playing catch-up. It’s coming for everyone.

2026 Lamborghini Temerario

Lamborghini

The Lamborghini Temerario proves that losing two cylinders doesn’t necessarily mean losing your mind. Replacing the Huracán’s legendary V10 with a twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid was always going to raise eyebrows. But with outrageous performance, electrification, and that unmistakable Lamborghini attitude, the Temerario has plenty of reasons to get enthusiasts excited.

2027 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC

Ford clearly didn’t think the regular Dark Horse was wild enough. Enter the Dark Horse SC, packing a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 795 horsepower. It’s loud, aggressive, and armed with serious track-focused hardware. The fact that Ford is still building machines like this in an increasingly electrified world is reason enough for us to smile.

The Best Family Vehicle For 2027

Family vehicles have come a long way from being boring boxes on wheels. Today’s family SUVs offer exceptional comfort, clever technology, impressive fuel efficiency, and enough space to accommodate kids, luggage, pets, and everything else life throws at you. We wanted vehicles that make family life easier without making driving feel like a chore.

2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid

The Hyundai Palisade was already one of our favorite family SUVs, and the arrival of a hybrid powertrain makes it even more appealing. With three-row practicality, a premium-feeling cabin, loads of technology, and improved efficiency, the Palisade Hybrid makes a compelling case for families who want luxury without paying luxury-brand prices.

2027 Kia Telluride / Hybrid

Kia

The Kia Telluride has earned a serious reputation for delivering comfort, style, and outstanding value. The latest generation builds on that winning formula, and the addition of a hybrid option only sweetens the deal. It’s spacious, handsome, and packed with the sort of features that make family road trips considerably less stressful.

2027 Rivian R2

Who says a family SUV needs a gasoline engine? The Rivian R2 brings the brand’s adventurous personality into a smaller, more accessible package. With electric performance, clever packaging, and an emphasis on everyday usability, the R2 could be a seriously tempting choice for families wanting something a little different from the usual three-row crowd.

The Best Budget Vehicle For 2027

New cars aren’t exactly getting cheaper, and finding something genuinely good without destroying your finances has become increasingly challenging. Thankfully, affordable motoring isn’t dead just yet. Our nominees prove that you can still enjoy modern technology, practicality, efficiency, and a little personality without spending a fortune.

2026 Kia K4 Hatchback

The Kia K4 Hatchback brings some much-needed excitement to the affordable compact segment. With sharp styling, practical hatchback versatility, and a feature-packed interior, it offers plenty of reasons to think twice before buying a more expensive vehicle. It’s proof that sensible transportation doesn’t have to look or feel boring.

2026 Toyota C-HR

Toyota has brought back the C-HR with a completely different personality. Now an all-electric crossover, the latest C-HR combines bold styling with modern technology and the everyday practicality buyers expect from a compact SUV. It’s an interesting addition to the affordable EV conversation, particularly for shoppers who want something that doesn’t look like every other crossover on the road.

2026 Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 has been one of America’s favorite SUVs for good reason. It’s practical, dependable, efficient, and incredibly easy to live with. The redesigned 2026 model doubles down on electrification with hybrid powertrains, updated technology, and fresh styling. Sometimes, the smartest purchase isn’t the flashiest one.

The Best EV For 2027

Electric vehicles have officially moved beyond the novelty stage. Today’s EVs are competing on everything from range and charging performance to driving dynamics, technology, and affordability. For this year’s awards, we’re looking at electric vehicles that push the segment forward while making a convincing argument for leaving gasoline behind.

2027 BMW iX3

BMW’s Neue Klasse revolution is finally here, and the iX3 is leading the charge. With its next-generation electric architecture, fresh design language, advanced technology, and emphasis on efficiency, the iX3 represents a major step forward for the German automaker. More importantly, it promises to retain the driving character that makes a BMW special.

2027 Rivian R2

The Rivian R2 earns its second nomination, and for good reason. Rivian’s smaller electric SUV aims to bring the brand’s rugged appeal to a much wider audience. Its combination of practical design, adventure-ready engineering, and electric performance could make it one of the most interesting EVs in its segment.

2027 Volvo EX60

Volvo is taking another big step into the electric future with the EX60. Positioned in one of the most competitive luxury SUV segments, the EX60 brings Scandinavian design, advanced safety technology, and a new generation of electric engineering. It’s a compelling proposition for anyone who wants a premium EV without shouting about it.

The Best Luxury Vehicle For 2027

Luxury is no longer just about expensive leather, fancy badges, and enough chrome to blind your neighbors. Modern luxury vehicles need to deliver exceptional comfort, advanced technology, effortless performance, and a driving experience that feels genuinely special. Interestingly, all three of our nominees this year are electric SUVs. That should tell you something about where the luxury market is heading.

2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric

Porsche has never been shy about combining performance with luxury, and the Cayenne Electric takes that philosophy into an entirely new era. With its dedicated electric platform, sophisticated chassis technology, and unmistakable Porsche DNA, it aims to deliver sports-car excitement in a luxurious SUV package. That’s a combination we can certainly get behind.

2027 BMW iX3

The iX3 makes another appearance, this time for its approach to modern luxury. BMW’s new electric SUV puts technology, design, and the driving experience at the heart of its appeal. Its minimalist cabin, advanced digital interface, and next-generation engineering demonstrate that luxury doesn’t always need to be excessive to feel special.

2027 Volvo EX60

Volvo has long understood that understated luxury can be just as appealing as flashy extravagance. The EX60 continues that philosophy with clean Scandinavian design, a technology-focused cabin, and a strong emphasis on comfort and safety. It’s the kind of luxury SUV that makes sophistication look effortless.

The Best Off-Road Warrior For 2027

This is where things get properly dirty. We love vehicles that can leave the pavement behind, tackle nasty terrain, and come back covered in mud looking better than when they left. But there’s more to a great off-roader than massive tires and aggressive styling. We’re considering capability, suspension, powertrain, technology, durability, and, of course, how much fun these machines promise when the road disappears.

2026 Jeep Recon

An all-electric Jeep built for serious off-road adventures? You bet. The Recon takes Jeep’s legendary trail-focused philosophy into the electric age, combining rugged styling, dedicated off-road hardware, and instant electric torque. It’s a bold move for a brand built on gasoline-powered 4×4 legends, and we’re excited to see how it stacks up against the competition.

2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness

Not every off-road adventure requires a gigantic truck or a rock-crawling monster. The Subaru Outback Wilderness proves that a practical, comfortable daily driver can still have a serious adventurous streak. With its upgraded suspension, all-wheel-drive capability, increased ground clearance, and rugged personality, it’s a fantastic choice for people who want to explore beyond the pavement without sacrificing everyday usability.

2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT

Ram

The king of outrageous off-road pickup trucks is back, and it’s bringing a supercharged V8 to the party. The Ram 1500 TRX SRT combines immense power with specialized off-road suspension and the ability to attack rough terrain at ridiculous speeds. It’s massive, loud, and about as subtle as a charging rhinoceros. Naturally, we absolutely love the idea of it.

The Best Car Of 2026

Drum roll, please! This is the big one. Our most prestigious award, and undoubtedly the toughest decision our judging panel will have to make. These seven finalists represent the very best of the automotive world, from ridiculously powerful supercars and practical family SUVs to affordable everyday heroes and cutting-edge EVs. We’re looking at the complete package here, including performance, innovation, practicality, value for money, and that special something that makes a vehicle truly stand out.

  • 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 / ZR1X
  • 2026 Kia Telluride / Hybrid
  • 2026 Kia K4 Hatchback
  • 2027 BMW iX3
  • 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness
  • 2026 Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electrified
  • 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT

Quite the lineup, isn’t it? We’ve got an American supercar battling a practical Kia hatchback, a luxurious Porsche going up against a rugged Ram pickup, and everything in between. These seven machines couldn’t be more different, but that’s exactly what makes this award so exciting. Each represents something special, and each has earned its place among our finalists. Unfortunately, there can only be one winner, and choosing it is going to spark some serious arguments among our editors.

Stay Tuned For The Winners Of The Buzz Awards 2027

And there you have it. Eighteen nominations, eight categories, and one seriously difficult task ahead of our judging panel. From the monstrous Corvette ZR1X and supercharged Mustang Dark Horse SC to the practical Toyota RAV4 and electric Rivian R2, this year’s finalists show just how diverse and exciting the automotive world has become.

Some of these vehicles represent the very best of traditional performance engineering, while others offer a glimpse into an increasingly electrified future. But they all have something in common. They’ve earned a place on our shortlist.

The teams at HotCars, TopSpeed, and CarBuzz will now have the unenviable job of choosing the winners. Expect plenty of opinions, some heated debates, and probably a few people who still won’t agree with the final results.

Stay tuned as we reveal the winners of the second annual Buzz Awards on November 12th 2026.
