Lamborghini’s Just Unveiled The Revuelto SV: Its Most Powerful Production Car To Date
Lamborghini Revuelto is a name that commands respect. With a four-wheel-drive layout piloted by a hybrid electric V12 driveline, it’s a name that must be brought up whenever the future of performance is discussed. Signature Lamborghini looks draw in the usual crowd, conjuring a second look from anyone else who might say supercars aren’t their taste. And if that’s not enough, belting out 1,001 horsepower, accelerating from 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds, and hitting a top speed of 217 mph makes it undisputedly fast. As impressive as all that is, Lamborghini has decided to push the envelope even further with the new Revuelto SV, the most powerful production Lamborghini to date.
Dialing Power Up To 11
SV stands for Super Veloce, a name that first appeared on the legendary Miura that put Lamborghini at the pinnacle of supercar performance, a pole position maintained for more than 50 years. Earlier this month, we got the news that the Revuelto paid tribute to its predecessor with the Revuelto Miura 60° Homage that made its debut at Monterey Car week. While honoring your elders is always evocative, picking up the mantle is what sets the car world on fire, and that’s exactly what the Revuelto Super Veloce is here to do.
In true SV nature, performance has been dialed up across the board. Lamborghini engineers squeezed every bit of performance they could out of the hybrid V12 system for this debut. They carried over the same naturally aspirated V12 producing an impressive 814 horsepower at 9,250 RPM with a 9,500 RPM redline. They dialed up the hybrid system, however, with a 7.3 kWh lithium-ion battery capable of bringing combined output to an astounding 1,050 horsepower and 1,051 lb-ft of torque. This makes it the most powerful production Lamborghini to date, second only to the outragous Fenomeno for the all-time record.
The engine is just part of the story, though. The transmission has also seen its share of upgrades and is now capable of 30% faster shifts, according to Lamborghini. With the revised powertrain, the Revuelto SV is capable of accelerating from 0–62 mph in 2.4 seconds. You can argue its only a marginal improvement, but that’s only if you lose sight of the fact that we’re talking about something that’s already downright mental.
The Entire Structure Is At Work
The Lamborghini Revuelto looks as fast as it is, too. A revised front bumper and a new wing out back help increase aerodynamics significantly. Lamborghini claims downforce has been increased by as much as 80% with an overall increase of 60% in the car’s downforce-to-drag efficiency. The entire exterior structure is at work in the name of speed.
Slicing through the air wasn’t all engineers were focused on; they also reduced the car’s weight significantly with the introduction of new race seats and extended use of carbon fiber. Their efforts brought the power-to-weight ratio to an incredible 3.72 pounds per horsepower.
Passive adjustable dampers help keep the car stable, while all-new brake technology maintains control. Lamborghini has also introduced new CCM-R carbon ceramic discs as part of the updated brake system that improves deceleration by 11%. Bridgestone has developed proprietary Potenza tires specifically for the Revuelto SV that are wrapped around the also-new lightweight central-locking wheels to help ensure all of this extra muscle is translated to the pavement.
These radical improvements to the already bananas Revuelto add up to make what can only be described as a seriously fast machine. Lamborghini shares that not only is it significantly more capable than the preceding Revuelto model, but it achieved the title of being the fastest production super car around Hockenheim when it secured a lap time of one minute and 41.6 seconds.
Customization Unlike Any Other
But what is a Lamborghini without a little panache? The Revuelto SV capitalizes on the “feel like a pilot” experience the brand prides itself on. Standard are all the controls and switches that make the cabin reminiscent of a fighter jet’s cockpit, but that’s not all. Also, new to the Revuelto SV is the Pilota driving mode that offers the intense driving experience Lamborghini owners crave with a radical 5-stage traction control system carried over from Lamborghini’s racing GT experience.
What else do Lamborghini owners desire? Individuality, which is something the marketing team kept in mind. Buyers of the Revuelto SV also have access to an unprecedented level of customization. They have the option to choose from various leathers and colors for the interior, along with Lamborghini’s extensive paint catalog they can use to customize the exterior of the car. Lamborghini says that there are an unlimited number of possible combinations that buyers can come up with, ensuring their Revuelto SV is truly unlike anything else on the road.
