• Sportage continues as the UK’s favourite family SUV, and second in the UK, with 25,828 registrations
• Kia’s wide range of fully electric vehicles now account for around 30% of sales
• Kia third in the e-LCV segment with a 17.4% market share
Kia has broken new sales records, recording its best-ever H1, Q2, and June according to the latest figures published today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Kia is now the UK’s third best-selling brand, with 65,300 vehicles registered in the first half of the year, establishing a new company record. Of these, 62,845 cars were registered with the remaining number comprising of the brand’s PBV commercial vehicles.
Kia’s combined EV sales this year has put the brand on the podium of the sales charts, with 18,241 all electric units registered in the first half of the year. Comprising of the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6 and EV9, along with the PV5 Passenger, the Kia electric line-up is one of the most comprehensive on offer in the UK. Cumulatively, Kia’s all-electric models account for 29% of total sales (31.7% including PBVs).
Continuing its dominance in the market, the Kia Sportage is the UK’s favourite family SUV, and second best-selling car in the UK, with 25,828 registrations year-to-date. The Sportage has gone from strength to strength, since first going on-sale in the UK in 1995 and is frequently listed as the UK’s best-selling vehicle throughout the year.
Kia’s smallest models, the Picanto city car, and Stonic compact crossover are also continuing to prove their popularity with customers, with 6,939 and 4,725 registrations respectively so far this year.
Electric Car Grant
Kia is now one of only seven brands to offer vehicles that qualify for the highest Government Electric Car Grant (ECG). The Kia EV2, EV3, EV4 and PV5 Passenger each qualify for the Government Electric Car Grant, thanks to assessments of Kia’s environmental credibility in relation to the manufacture of these vehicles and their batteries. Select grades of both the EV2 and EV4 are eligible for the maximum Band 1 Grant.
Q3 customer offers
Kia launched its Q3 2026 customer offers on 1 July, including loyalty incentives for existing Kia finance customers, and competitive finance packages across the brand’s model range. The offers include new Storm offers for the new Sportage and EV5 ‘Storm’ grades, 3.9% APR finance across Kia’s fully electric line-up, 5.9% APR on selected petrol and hybrid models, generous finance deposit contributions, and targeted savings for customers upgrading to the latest Kia vehicles.
Commercial vehicles
Kia is already the No.3 brand in the UK fully electric LCV market, with a 17.4% share. This impressive feat is the result of the Kia PV5 Cargo and PV5 Passenger’s UK market launch. These Kia PBVs are the brand’s recent introduction into the UK’s light commercial vehicle market.
Both the PV5 Cargo and PV5 Passenger are instant best-sellers, matching physical attributes such as cargo volume and payload, with passenger carrying ability, a reassuring 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and an appealing price. PV5 Cargo pricing starts from £27,355 (+VAT), available from Kia PBV Centres.
