Summary
The Jaguar Type 01 is a luxury electric four-door grand tourer that represents a complete creative, mechanical, and strategic reset for Jaguar, as the British marque moves away from the high-volume premium executive market to position itself as a low-volume luxury marque.
It is perhaps an understatement to say that the Type 01 is an important model for Jaguar. The brand discontinued its existing lineup by late 2025 – with the F-Type, XE, XF being retired first and then later its SUVs – meaning that the future of Jaguar, for now at least, depends on this one model.
The Type 01 is a marked departure from anything we have seen from Jaguar before – a tri-motor electric saloon with an output of over 1,000hp and an estimated 0-62mph sprint time of 3.3 seconds. The car also shows of Jaguar’s new design philosophy, with a minimalist interior design featuring a large digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.
We don’t know what the production model will look like just yet, the car’s official reveal is scheduled for October. The car shown above in camouflage livery is the pre-production version which is undergoing testing.
