Dodge isn’t finished proving the Hurricane-powered Charger deserves a place alongside the brand’s V8 legends. The automaker has confirmed it will unveil the most powerful SIXPACK-powered Dodge Charger ever built during the press preview for Roadkill Nights at M1 Concourse on August 7. Dodge hasn’t released horsepower figures yet, but the announcement signals the current 550-horsepower Charger Scat Pack won’t remain the top gasoline-powered Charger for much longer. For enthusiasts still wondering how far Dodge plans to push the twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane, Roadkill Nights looks set to provide that answer.
Dodge Is Raising The Stakes For The Hurricane Charger
When Dodge retired the HEMI-powered Charger and Challenger, the biggest question wasn’t whether the new Charger would be quick. It was whether enthusiasts would embrace a six-cylinder replacing one of the most iconic V8 muscle car lineups ever built.
The current Charger Scat Pack already makes 550 horsepower from its High Output Hurricane engine, making it the most powerful production version of the engine Stellantis has built. Whatever Dodge reveals next week will move beyond that benchmark and become the new flagship for the gasoline-powered Charger lineup.
Dodge is keeping the details under wraps, but choosing Roadkill Nights for the reveal isn’t surprising. The annual event has evolved into one of the brand’s biggest enthusiast gatherings, giving Dodge an audience filled almost entirely with the people most likely to care about what comes next.
Roadkill Nights Is Getting Bigger Alongside The Reveal
The Charger reveal won’t be the only headline from this year’s event. For the first time, Roadkill Nights will feature two racing venues. Street-legal drag racing returns to Detroit’s legendary Woodward Avenue, while M1 Concourse will host a new closed-course Track Shootout that expands the competition beyond the drag strip.
The event will also feature the latest Direct Connection Grudge Match, where SIXPACK-powered Chargers will compete head-to-head, along with appearances from Tony Stewart, Leah Pruett, Matt Hagan, Ida Zetterstrom, Mike Finnegan, David Freiburger, and several other well-known names from NHRA, Roadkill, and the broader performance community. Between Charger drift rides, burnout demonstrations, anniversary displays celebrating 60 years of the Charger nameplate, and Dodge’s newest reveal, the event has become much more than another enthusiast gathering.
Dodge Still Has Something To Prove
The Hurricane-powered Charger has spent much of its first year being compared to the cars it replaced rather than judged on its own merits. While many enthusiasts remain committed to the HEMI, Dodge continues investing in the platform instead of treating it as a temporary replacement. Bringing an even more powerful SIXPACK Charger to Roadkill Nights suggests Dodge isn’t backing away from gasoline performance. If anything, it’s doubling down on proving the Hurricane has more potential left to unlock.
