In 1985, Suzuki introduced the GSX-R750 with the tagline, “A legend now begins.” Since then, the GSX-R sportbike has defined the 750cc supersport category. For the 2027 model year, Suzuki’s longstanding GSX-R750 returns with new color options and a slightly higher MSRP of $13,549 for the base variant, while the 40th Anniversary Edition remains visually unchanged.

The 2027 Suzuki GSX-R750 Remains Mechanically Unchanged

The 1985 GSX-R750 helped define what a performance motorcycle could be, thanks to its attractive power-to-weight ratio, race-spec features, and affordability. That original icon is often regarded as the first true mass-produced race replica and supersport motorcycle. The bike has undergone six generational updates, with the last in 2011.

For 15 years, the current GSX-R750 has remained largely unchanged and unbothered by the ever-evolving supersport category. Suzuki says this multi-championship-winning sportbike continues the GSX-R legacy, delivering a true supersport riding experience with big-bike-like pull and 600cc-supersport-like handling. And the Gen 7 GSX-R750 enters 2027 unchanged.

Engine And Hardware Carried Over For 2027

Suzuki Cycles

The 2027 GSX-R750 carries over most of its features, starting with the fuel-injected 750cc oversquare inline-four engine. Suzuki says this mill delivers strong pull off the line, like a larger inline-four lump, while retaining the high-revving nature of a 600cc-class engine. The engine is mated to a 6-speed close-ratio gearbox with a slipper clutch.

The frame remains the same: a lightweight aluminum twin-spar frame claimed to be as compact as a 600cc supersport. Suspension duties are handled by Showa, including an upside-down Big Piston Front (BPF) fork and a remote-reservoir monoshock, both fully adjustable. There’s also an electronic steering damper.

Braking comes from a pair of 310mm discs with radial-mount four-piston Brembo monobloc calipers up front and a single disc (undefined size) with a Nissin one-piston caliper out back. The bike runs 3-spoke 17-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels, claimed to be shod with high-grip tires. The bike tips the scales at 419 pounds.

Other bits include adjustable foot pegs and a shift lever, plus a compact instrument cluster with an analog tachometer, LCD readouts, and a built-in timer/stopwatch. Lights are mostly halogen bulb type, except for the LED taillight. Electronics are limited to two drive modes for road and track. The bike misses out on modern electronic rider aids, including ABS and traction control.

2027 Suzuki GSX-R750: New Colors And Higher MSRP

The returning GSX-R750 base model gets new colors: Candy Daring Red and Metallic Matte Black No. 2. Meanwhile, the GSX-R750Z 40th Anniversary Edition returns unchanged, with special livery and detailing inspired by historic GSX-R models.

The 2027 GSX-R750 is now $300 more expensive than the MY26 model, with the base model carrying an MSRP of $13,549 and the GSX-R750Z 40th Anniversary Edition at $13,749 MSRP. Both GSX-R750 models are available at dealerships in the United States.
