Genesis is reportedly within two years of putting a production Coupe and Convertibles into showrooms, and the cars are shaping up to be a direct shot at the Bentley Continental GT. According to CarBuzz, the production versions of the X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible concepts will carry over styling refined from the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show cars, ride on the G90 sedan’s platform, and could pack around 600 horsepower.

That a Korean luxury brand is even in this conversation says something. A decade ago, Genesis was selling value-priced alternatives to the Lexus ES. Now it’s chasing the same buyers who cross-shop a six-figure British grand tourer, and it’s doing so with a design language and an executive bench pulled straight from the segment it’s targeting.

What CarBuzz’s Report Actually Confirms

The production coupe and convertible, which may carry the GT90 name, will reportedly use a reworked version of the X Gran concepts’ styling rather than a straight carryover. They’ll share the current G90’s 125.2-inch wheelbase and platform, and the interior is expected to borrow from a facelifted G90 sedan due later this year. Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis’s chief creative officer and former design chief at Bentley and Lamborghini, confirmed the platform-sharing detail to CarBuzz when the concepts debuted at Seoul, and made clear the brand doesn’t build show cars just to build show cars.

Powertrain details are still unsettled. Both concepts wore exhaust tips, pointing to combustion power, and early rumors tied them to the G90’s twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that makes 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft in the sedan. CarBuzz reports the production cars could instead land around 600 hp, which puts a detuned version of the Magma GT concept’s 800-hp twin-turbo 3.2-liter V8 squarely in the conversation. A new hybrid setup hasn’t been ruled out either, and the G90 facelift arriving later this year should clarify which direction Genesis is actually taking.

The Trajectory That Got Genesis Here

This isn’t a one-off halo project. Genesis just launched the GV90, an SUV built to go after the Bentley Bentayga, and the Magma GT supercar concept signals the brand wants a genuine performance flagship, with Genesis reportedly even weighing a GT3 racing program to back it up. Bringing on Donckerwolke wasn’t a symbolic hire, either. He’s the guy who shaped Bentley and Lamborghini’s modern design identity, and his fingerprints are all over why the X Gran concepts look like they belong on the same showroom floor as a Continental GT instead of next to a G80.

Why The Price Gap Matters More Than The Spec Sheet

A Bentley Continental GT starts well north of $230,000 before options. If Genesis can deliver comparable presence, a near-600-hp powertrain, and genuine grand-tourer proportions for meaningfully less, it isn’t just adding a halo car, it’s opening a price bracket that Bentley, Aston Martin, and even Mercedes-Maybach have largely had to themselves. That’s the real story buried in this report: Genesis isn’t trying to out-spec the Continental GT, it’s trying to make the case that you don’t need to spend Bentley money to get Bentley presence. Will enthusiasts who’ve spent a decade dismissing Genesis as a value play actually cross-shop one against a Continental GT? Based on where this brand has come from, betting against it looks increasingly like the wrong move.
