Vauxhall Astra gets new GSE Line trim
The Vauxhall Astra hatchback and Astra Sports Tourer estate are getting a new ‘GSE Line’ trim, featuring styling inspired by the brand’s GSE performance models but retaining the regular Astra engine range.
The new specification will make its public debut at the Paris motor show before going on sale in the UK in spring 2027. It will replace the existing ‘GS’ trim in the Astra range, with electric, plug-in hybrid, hybrid and petrol versions available.
Unlike the recently launched Corsa GSE and Mokka GSE, the Astra ‘GSE Line’ isn’t a performance model. Instead, the changes are largely cosmetic, including new inserts beneath the front ‘Vizor’, ‘GSE Line’ lettering and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Inside, bright yellow stitching is used for the seats, steering wheel, door inserts and centre armrest, accompanied by aluminium sports pedals. Sports seats with integrated headrests will also be available on selected petrol and hybrid versions, although UK availability has yet to be confirmed.
Otherwise, the GSE Line retains the same standard equipment as the outgoing GS specification.
A more powerful Astra producing around 280hp will join the range later in 2027, although Vauxhall hasn’t yet confirmed its powertrain or whether it will be offered in both hatchback and Sports Tourer forms.
The Astra and Astra Sports Tourer GSE Line will go on sale in spring 2027, with prices to be announced closer to launch.
Vauxhall says GSE Line trim will subsequently be introduced on other models in its range.
The Vauxhall Astra currently holds a New Car Expert Rating of B, with a score of 65%. It scores highly for its low running costs and low average CO2 emissions (both helped by having a plug-in hybrid model), while questionable reliability stops the Astra from scoring an A.
