Trailhunter Package Brings Factory Overlanding Gear to the SR5
The Trailhunter package is the headline addition for 2027. Built on the SR5 grade, it arrives with Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires, an Old Man Emu upgraded suspension, front recovery hooks, and added underbody protection — the kind of spec list that usually means an aftermarket build budget. Toyota says the package is priced to make adventure-ready capability more attainable, though exact pricing hasn’t been announced.
Off-road tech rounds out the package with Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, and a locking rear differential. Visually, Trailhunter stands apart with bronze-colored wheels and exclusive badging that make the truck’s intentions clear before it ever leaves the pavement. For Tundra fans who’ve been watching the TRD Pro take all the off-road glory, Trailhunter offers a compelling alternative with genuine overlanding character baked in from the factory.
Redesigned Front End Sharpens the Tundra’s Look Across All Grades
CALTY’s updated design language leans into crisp, square front geometry — a vertically oriented strength that Toyota says communicates hauling confidence. The grille adopts a rugged hexagonal theme that adapts across trims, while rectangular fog lights integrate cleanly into the bumper. The grille-mounted LED light bar gets a brightness upgrade, and available RIGID fog lights add extra illumination for low-visibility conditions.
The wide, stable stance carries over, but the center lower bumper treatment is new and reinforces the truck’s rugged character. Toyota is also offering available front recovery hooks across more of the lineup, which add both utility and a more assertive look. The full grade lineup — SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, Capstone, and the new Trailhunter package — each get their own interpretation of the new front-end theme.
New Infotainment System Standardizes a 14-Inch Screen and 5G Connectivity
The 2027 Tundra standardizes the latest-generation Toyota Audio Multimedia system across the lineup, anchored by a 14-inch touchscreen. Built in partnership with Toyota Connected North America, the system runs on AT&T 5G and features a customizable home screen with widget support and an improved “Hey Toyota” voice assistant with faster response times.
A built-in Drive Recorder Dash Cam is now standard — when enabled, the truck’s exterior cameras capture 20-second clips of manual and triggered events. Enhanced Digital Key functionality lets owners lock, unlock, start, and share vehicle access through Apple, Google, or Samsung digital wallet apps, with NFC support that keeps the feature working even when the device battery is dead. Up to five additional drivers can be granted access through the wallet app. The i-FORCE MAX hybrid grades also carry a 2.4kW inverter, useful for tools on the job site or gear at a campsite.

Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 comes standard on the 2027 Tundra with updated hardware and detection capabilities. The suite includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist.
Warranty coverage stays strong: 36 months/36,000 miles basic, 60 months/60,000 miles powertrain, and hybrid components covered for 8 years/100,000 miles. The hybrid battery extends to 10 years/150,000 miles and is transferable across ownership — a meaningful perk for anyone considering a used i-FORCE MAX down the road. ToyotaCare covers factory-scheduled maintenance for one year or 10,000 miles, plus two years of unlimited-mileage roadside assistance.
With the Trailhunter package, Toyota is making a clear statement: you shouldn’t have to choose between factory warranty peace of mind and genuine trail capability.
