The Goodwood Festival of Speed has become the unofficial proving ground for the world’s most ambitious hypercars, and this year’s event is about to add another heavyweight to its history. Red Bull Advanced Technologies has confirmed the RB17 will make its first-ever public dynamic appearance during the festival, giving enthusiasts their first look at one of the most technically ambitious hypercars ever developed.
Unlike many Goodwood debuts, the RB17 isn’t arriving with road-car compromises or production regulations hanging over its development. Built exclusively for the track, the car was engineered with one objective: deliver Formula 1-inspired performance without the restrictions that define modern Grand Prix racing. Goodwood will be the first time the public gets to see whether that philosophy translates from the drawing board to the famous Hillclimb.
Until now, the RB17 has existed largely through specifications and carefully released imagery. That changes this week as the hypercar tackles demonstration runs up Goodwood’s iconic course, marking its first public outing ahead of customer deliveries scheduled for Summer 2027.
Power comes from a Cosworth-developed naturally aspirated V10 working alongside a hybrid system for a combined output of 1,200 horsepower. Red Bull says the package is capable of 220 mph while delivering acceleration and cornering performance comparable to contemporary Formula 1 performance. Although Goodwood’s short Hillclimb won’t showcase the RB17’s outright capabilities, it will provide the first real demonstration of the car outside factory development.
Every Festival of Speed features its share of supercars and hypercars, but very few arrive carrying the level of expectation surrounding the RB17. The combination of a naturally aspirated V10, hybrid assistance, lightweight construction, and unrestricted engineering makes it one of the most unusual performance cars currently headed toward production.
Only 50 examples are planned, making the RB17 as exclusive as it is ambitious. Before those owners ever take delivery, however, Goodwood visitors will become the first members of the public to watch the car in action. For a festival built around celebrating speed and engineering, it’s difficult to imagine a more fitting stage for one of 2026’s most anticipated hypercar debuts.
