Genesis just pulled the covers off the GV90, and it’s not messing around. Unveiled at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts on August 19, the brand’s first full-size flagship SUV is the production version of the 2024 Neolun concept — and it arrives with a party trick almost nobody else in the segment can match: the Neolun Arch Gate, a set of hidden B-pillar coach doors that open independently of each other, a world first.

Beyond the doors, Genesis piled on 180-degree swiveling front seats, a pop-up OLED display that grows to 24.6 inches when parked, a 25-inch head-up display, and 12 airbags including the industry’s first roof airbag.

Genesis frames the GV90’s cabin as a living space, not a cockpit. Dual-layer dash and door trims let contrasting materials define each plane, and the seats, console, and display sit like furniture in a lounge.

The centerpiece is a 23.6-inch OLED display that rises 90mm when parked, expanding to 24.6 inches. There’s no instrument cluster — a 25-inch head-up display handles speed, navigation, and ADAS.

Boarding is choreography. Pull the handle and the car wakes, the door shuts itself, the Motion Column Shifter swings to 2 o’clock, and the Crystal Sphere Controller rotates open. No start button — just press the brake.

The Neolun adds front seats that swivel a full 180 degrees while parked, a group first. With the flat floor and 127.8-inch wheelbase, the front row becomes a face-to-face lounge.

Bang & Olufsen supplies a 25-speaker Premier 3D system with Dolby Atmos. Virtual Venue recreates spaces like Boston Symphony Hall and Wembley Stadium; Beosonic lets passengers dial in their own tone.

17

Ambient Glow lighting flows from the dash through the doors, washing over leather, wool cashmere, stone, and wood. Door lamps illuminate in sequence on entry and shift brightness during voice commands.

16

Seats wear premium leather with 15 air cells and pulse vibration for Genesis’ most advanced massage program yet. Radiant warmers sit in the armrests, side panels, and door trims, joined by a metal-coated heated windshield.

The Neolun Executive Suite’s four-seat layout brings a wood veneer floor with ondol-inspired underfloor heating, a Comfort Partition, roll blinds, and a six-zone PDLC Smart Vision Roof. Rear passengers get semi-aniline leather, a tower console, a refrigerator, and tables.

The GV90’s exterior draws on the Korean moon jar, the traditional porcelain vessel Genesis credits for its philosophy of restrained elegance. The brief was reduction — strip away the superfluous until only proportion, curve, and white space remain.

Wing Face Micro Lens Array headlamps span the front fascia beneath a clamshell hood. Genesis used laser engraving to blend the lighting element into the bodywork, with the jewel-like Two-Line signature adding a futuristic edge.
