The 2026 Honda Pilot Elite stacks up surprisingly well on space, comfort, and convenience. It features genuine leather heated and ventilated front seats, multizone climate control, and heated second-row outboard seats.

For comparison, the 2026 Lexus TX 350 Premium features NuLuxe (faux leather) heated and ventilated front seats, and can add heated and ventilated outboard middle row seats for $1,160. Before tax and destination, the Pilot Elite undercuts the AWD Lexus TX 350 by $8,805.

The Pilot Isn’t Underpowered And Its Price Reflects Good Value

The sole current luxury SUV using a naturally aspirated V-6 is the Honda Pilot’s Acura MDX sibling. Many would-be competitors for the Honda Pilot are moving to turbocharged four-cylinder engines, while some, like the Genesis GV80, offer turbocharged V-6s. The 2026 Honda Pilot Elite uses a 3.5-liter V-6 making 285 hp, pairing it with a 10-speed automatic transmission and AWD. Its Acura MDX sibling gets 290 hp out of the same engine, using the same drivetrain. The comparable 2026 Acura MDX Advance costs $13,205 more.

In the 2027 Genesis GV80 Advanced (carried over from 2026), the 3.5 twin-turbo V-6 makes 375 hp to power all wheels through an 8-speed automatic. Premium fuel is recommended for the GV80 for top performance, and its EPA-rated 19 mpg combined falls short of the Pilot’s 21 mpg. Though the Genesis is noticeably smaller than the Pilot, its $76,250 is $22,555 higher.

The 2026 Honda Pilot Elite Excels In Packaging

The Honda Pilot seats up to eight passengers with greater overall passenger volume (158.4 cubic feet), while the 2027 Audi Q7 Premium (which is taller and boxier than the 2026 model, with the same footprint) offers room for just seven. Though no overall passenger room has been published yet, it is reported to be 10% roomier, which would put passenger volume at about 155 cubic feet. The difference in price is $17,205.

Rear-seat room in the Audi is considerably more restricted, with three inches less room in the rear seat and about an inch less in the middle. Side by side, the Pilot outdoes the Audi in shoulder room by about an inch up front, nearly three inches in the middle and almost 10 inches in the rear. Cargo volume ranges from 18.6 to 112.1 cubic feet in the Pilot, significantly eclipsing Q7’s 15.1–71.1 cubic feet.

The 2026 Honda Pilot Elite Borders On Luxury Level SUV Territory

The 2026 Honda Pilot Elite is one of the better examples of how far mainstream SUVs have come toward all-encompassing fulfillment of their customer base by creating a model that meets family needs from the most stringent budgets to the higher statements of luxury, through upscale materials, extensive equipment and creature comforts.

For $53,695, buyers get a comprehensively equipped AWD vehicle that offers a worthy alternative to a luxury SUV, with a decently powerful V-6 engine, 20-inch alloy wheels, genuine leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, room for passengers in three rows plus their cargo, premium Bose audio, a head-up display, and a panoramic moonroof.

Today’s Luxury Advantage Is Often A Perception

Luxury competitors still have the perceived advantage in craftsmanship, prestige and the availability of features, but the Pilot Elite makes a compelling argument in that once you get beyond the functional items, you’re basically just dealing with shiny luxury things. Many SUV buyers may not need all the add-on luxury features beyond the comfort, technology, space and capability they use day to day.

Outside of five personalization packages that add items like blacked-out emblems, tube steps, trailer hitches and functional accessories like floor mats and cargo trays, the only factory options available to the 2026 Honda Pilot Elite are three exterior color choices and two wheel designs. Fully loaded, the $60,930 total would still undercut a comparably sized luxury SUV like the Lexus TX 350. Understandably, though, luxury is a personal thing, so there are Pilot alternatives if a buyer wants less luxury or more.

The 2026 Honda Pilot Touring Is The Value Sweet Spot

At $51,295, the Touring steps back from Elite status while retaining many of the features that make the Pilot feel upscale. It includes genuine leather-trimmed seating, a panoramic moonroof, Bose audio, 20-inch wheels, AWD, a multiview camera and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. It does not include some functional items like heated seats in its base price, but omitting them saves $2,400.

The 2026 Honda Pilot Black Edition Adds A Punctuation Mark

At the other end of the bracket, the 2026 Honda Pilot Black Edition is essentially a visual upgrade from the Elite with a $1,500 premium.
