A 2021 Lamborghini Huracán was destroyed in a fiery crash at a Tennessee gas station on October 3, after the supercar struck a fuel pump and caught fire. The crash also damaged the station’s pumps and canopy, while the driver escaped without serious injuries. The Lamborghini was traveling east on Highway 41A in Pleasant View when it collided with a 2016 GMC Sierra that was leaving a gas station. After the collision, the Huracán continued into the station’s parking lot, hit a curb, and slammed into a fuel pump. The impact sparked a fire that quickly engulfed the car.
Lamborghini Huracán Catches Fire After Hitting Gas Pump
Firefighters arrived to find the Huracán heavily involved in flames. They extinguished the fire and activated the station’s emergency fuel shutoff to prevent more fuel from feeding the blaze. The fire damaged the fuel pumps and the canopy above them. However, the local fire department reported that gasoline from the pumps did not become involved in the fire, avoiding an even more serious incident at the station.
The Huracán’s driver was unconscious after the crash, and two bystanders pulled him from the car as the flames spread. He suffered cuts to his head but was not seriously injured. He reportedly told authorities he couldn’t remember the crash. An earlier report citing the Tennessee Highway Patrol suggested the driver may have experienced a medical episode before the collision. The exact cause of the crash has not been conclusively established.
The Lamborghini Huracán Was Reportedly Rented For A Parade
There was another unusual detail about the wreck. The driver reportedly told officials he had rented the Lamborghini the previous day for a parade. That detail comes from his account, and further information about the rental arrangement has not been independently established. The Huracán is known for its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine, which gives the supercar its distinctive character. This example was destroyed in the fire after the collision with the fuel pump. While the driver thankfully avoided serious injury, the Lamborghini suffered a far worse fate. The crash left the supercar destroyed and the gas station with significant fire damage.
