Of course, most of this list is made up of Supercars and Hypercars. But, there is also one regular sedan, and a couple of SUVs.

As well as a surprising mixture of types of cars, there’s also a surprising mixture of powertrains. There are cars with traditional ICE powertrains, cars with hybrid powertrains and even a few cars that are fully electric. What they all share, though, is that massive power that would have been totally unthinkable in a production car even 10-15 years ago.

Many enthusiasts were scared that the Lamborghini V12 would end up being a casualty of the march towards electrification. The Revuelto assured them that this wouldn’t be the case. Not only has the V12 survived in this latest Lamborghini supercar, but it’s still naturally aspirated as well! To bring the V12 fully up to date and ensure compliance with ever-tightening emissions regulations, Lamborghini decided to make it part of a plug-in hybrid system. That hybrid system contains three electric motors, linked into an all-wheel drive setup. The electric motors also mean that the Revuelto doesn’t need a traditional reverse gear; reversing can be accomplished by using the electric motors directly instead.

The result of this brand-new, V12-based hybrid system is a car that produces 1,001 horsepower and 783 lb-ft of torque. Those are borderline hypercar numbers in today’s market. That’s reflected in its absurdly fast 0-62 mph time (2.5 seconds) and its top speed of over 217 mph. All that, in a car that is EPA rated at 12 MPG combined – better than the Aventadors that preceded it!

This isn’t the end of the Revuelto’s crazy performance, either. The Revuelto SV was unveiled earlier this year, and it delivers even more power at 1,015 horsepower and 1,051 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to this extra power and some upgrades to the transmission to make it shift faster, Lamborghini claims the Revuelto SV is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard model.

Tesla Model S Plaid

Due to a change in Tesla’s focus as a company (Elon Musk wants to free up factory space to build the Optimus robots), the Model S Plaid (and the Model S as a whole) will be out of production by the end of 2026. That ends the run of what is easily one of the most remarkable sleeper cars any automaker has ever built. The Model S Plaid has a tri-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain, producing 1,020 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. This makes the Model S Plaid one of the fastest-accelerating production cars you can buy – 0-60 mph can be completed in as little as 1.99 seconds!

The Tesla Model S Plaid may not be an enthusiast’s favorite. People have ethical issues with the head of Tesla as it is. Add on top of this that the Model S Plaid is a fairly boring-looking fully-electric sedan, and the reaction to it can be quite visceral. But the numbers don’t lie. This is a car that’s terrifyingly fast, and with it going out of production very soon, now could be the right time to pick one up before they become sought after.

Tesla Model X Plaid

The Tesla Model X Plaid is in exactly the same situation as the Model S Plaid. The entire Model X lineup is being discontinued to make factory space for building those Optimus robots, and the Model X Plaid will be going as part of that. With the same tri-motor powertrain as the Model S Plaid, the Model X Plaid is just as much of a crazy sleeper. Due to the Model X’s extra weight compared to the Model S, it’s a little slower – 0-60 mph takes 2.5 seconds, instead of the crazy 1.99 seconds of the Model S Plaid. But for a big 7-seater electric SUV, that is a truly impressive performance figure!​​​​​​​

Like the Model S Plaid, the Model X Plaid is far from an enthusiast’s favorite. But, there may be a time when they become actually sought-after as crazy sleeper cars. When that time comes, anyone who’s bought one now in its final year of production could really benefit.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Changing the Chevrolet Corvette to an entirely brand-new, mid-engined layout for the C8 generation was always going to be a bold risk. But that risk has more than paid off. The C8 has ended up becoming one of the greatest Corvette generations ever, and nothing embodies that more than the ZR1.

Previous iterations of the Corvette ZR1 were built with a more traditional philosophy of American muscle. The C8 ZR1, though, is more like a screaming European supercar. A lot of that is down to its 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged flat-plane crank V8. This is the turbocharged version of the V8 found in the C8 Z06, and it produces an incredible 1,064 horsepower. The result of putting that much power in the C8 platform is a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds in its standard configuration, or 2.3 seconds with the ZTK performance package. It’s also got an officially recorded top speed of 233 mph. That’s near-hypercar levels of performance!

Lucid Gravity GT-S

The only other fully-electric SUV that appears on this list, the Lucid Gravity GT-S definitely looks more appealing than the Tesla Model X Plaid. It’s also noticeably more powerful. While it only has two electric motors instead of three, those two motors produce 1,070 horsepower overall. That makes it the most powerful SUV currently on sale in America. It’s also enough to take this big, heavy family car (it can seat up to 7 people) from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.

With how understated the Lucid Gravity GT-S looks compared to the tire-shredding performance it has, there is a great argument to be made that it’s one of the best sleeper cars you can currently buy. It’s certainly one of the most exciting options out there for anyone who needs a bigger car to ferry a lot of people (or things) around.

The Cayenne has always been a controversial choice in the Porsche line-up. That’s continued with the fact that there’s now an electric version of it! The most powerful Turbo version is one of the most powerful cars Porsche will sell you, producing up to 1,139 horsepower with push-to-pass or launch control activated. In its regular power mode, it produces a somewhat more manageable 845 horsepower.

The result of all this power is that not only is it the most powerful SUV you can buy in America today, but it’s also one of the fastest. The 0-62 mph sprint is completed in just 2.5 seconds, and it can go all the way up to 162 mph. While Porsche purists may not love that it’s an electric SUV, they can’t deny that it’s one of the most impressively powerful cars on the market right now.

Lucid Air Sapphire

In the same way that the Lucid Gravity GT-S is a contender to the Tesla Model X Plaid we mentioned earlier, the Lucid Air Sapphire is a contender to the Tesla Model S Plaid. It also absolutely destroys the Model S Plaid in terms of sheer power. The tri-motor powertrain of the Lucid Air Sapphire produces 1,234 horsepower and 1,430 lb-ft of torque overall. Shoving all that in what’s otherwise a regular luxury electric sedan results in a 0-60 mph time of just 1.89 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph.

With the Tesla Model S Plaid going away after 2026, the Lucid Air Sapphire may end up becoming one of the best fully-electric performance sedans on sale by default. You certainly can’t argue with how powerful and fast it is!

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X

You might have thought that Chevrolet couldn’t get any more power out of the C8 Corvette platform than the 1,064 horsepower the ZR1 has. You’d be absolutely wrong there! For the 2026 model year, Chevrolet unveiled the Corvette ZR1X, perhaps the craziest Corvette variant ever created.

The ZR1X takes that fantastic twin-turbocharged flat-plane V8, and puts it into the hybrid system that was developed for the Corvette E-Ray. The result is a combined output of 1,250 horsepower and 973 lb-ft of torque. That makes it the most powerful Corvette ever made, by a long shot. Thanks to using that hybrid system from the E-Ray, it’s also all-wheel drive. That drops the 0-60 time to under 2 seconds, sending the Corvette into true hypercar territory. Its top speed hasn’t been tested yet, but General Motors is confident that it could beat the 233 mph that the ZR1 set.

Czinger 21C

The Czinger 21C has to be one of the most interesting hypercars that’s appeared in the last few years. It’s designed and manufactured using cutting-edge techniques, involving the use of AI and 3-D printers. The heart of this car, though, is where the really cool stuff happens. It’s a 2.88-liter twin-turbocharged V8 (made completely in-house, and designed to be the most power-efficient V8 in the world), which is part of a hybrid system with three electric motors. That setup produces 1,250 horsepower, running to all four wheels through a racecar-style sequential transmission.

The Czinger 21C was always planned to be produced in very limited numbers. Only 80 of them across all configurations were ever intended to be made. But, it doesn’t seem like all the cars Czinger intended to build have been sold yet. So, technically, there’s still a chance that you could buy one if you’ve got the money!

If you want a hypercar that truly grabs headlines, there aren’t many that have done that better than the SSC Tuatara. It’s attracted a lot of attention, for both good and not-so-good reasons! It was claimed to be the fastest production car ever made for a time. But, its claimed top speed of over 300 mph was based on shaky evidence, and it ended up being walked back by SSC itself after a big controversy. Despite that, it’s still inarguably one of the fastest cars you can buy, reaching a two-way average of 282.9 mph in an official run.

The main thing we’re interested in here, though, is how powerful it is. Its 5.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces 1,350 horsepower on regular gas and 1,750 horsepower on E85. That makes it the most powerful production small-block V8 ever made. All that power goes to the rear wheels, too. This, evidently, is a car for serious drivers only, who really know how to wrangle the best performance out of a pure internal combustion machine.
