Mini unveiled the 2027 Countryman Untamed Edition, and the name is not just branding. The brand’s largest model gets a 15mm suspension lift, Pirelli all-terrain tires, a factory trailer hitch rated to 3,500 pounds, and a roof load capacity that can handle a proper rooftop tent — all from a starting price of $43,900 for the Countryman S ALL4 variant in the U.S.
The timing is deliberate. Adventure crossovers have carved out a real slice of the compact segment, and MINI is making a credible run at buyers who want something smaller than a Bronco Sport but more capable than a standard urban crossover. The Untamed Edition does not feel like a badge job — the suspension, tires, and chassis calibration are all specific to this build, and the design language commits to the rugged brief from bumper to cabin.
The mechanical case for the Untamed Edition starts with the 15mm suspension lift, which — combined with the exclusive 19-inch wheel and Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tire package — delivers up to 19mm of additional ground clearance depending on powertrain variant. Approach and breakover angles have been optimized alongside the lift, and MINI recalibrated the ABS, DSC, and steering systems specifically to suit the revised setup.
In the U.S., the suspension lift and all-terrain tires are standard across all Untamed Edition variants — not an option. That matters: buyers are not paying $43,900 and then discovering the meaningful hardware costs extra. The intelligent ALL4 all-wheel drive system ties it together, with tuning specific to the Untamed Edition’s wheel and tire combination. A factory-installed trailer hitch is also included, rated to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity. Roof load capacity reaches 165 pounds while driving and 661 pounds when stationary — enough to carry the AUTOHOME roof tent MINI developed as a separately available accessory.
MINI’s design team, led by Holger Hampf, built the exterior around a newly interpreted front grille with vertically oriented geometry and angular inserts finished in the exclusive Dark Steel accent color. The same Dark Steel treatment runs through the grille surround, underbody protection elements, MINI emblems, and Countryman lettering — it reads as a cohesive design system rather than a trim package applied at the end.
Textured matte black protective films cover the wheel arches, side sills, and hood, protecting against stone chips while reinforcing the off-road character. The 19-inch Untamed Edition Spoke wheel draws from classic off-road steel wheel design: five heavy spokes, technical fastening details, and a Dark Steel MINI wordmark on the center cap. Three exclusive colors anchor the palette — Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue, and Frozen Nomad Blue. That last one is significant: Frozen Nomad Blue is MINI’s first matte exterior paint finish to enter series production. The matte surface shifts how the body surfaces read, pulling out contours and creating what MINI describes as a sculptural appearance. Nanuq White and Midnight Black round out the color options.
Inside, the Untamed Edition replaces standard Vibrant Silver accents with Dark Steel throughout and adds Cornflower Blue details on the steering wheel strap, spoke, and select trim elements. The headline piece is the Vescin Nightshade Blue sport seat, which pairs perforated Vescin upholstery with knitted surfaces at the shoulder and headrest — the knit pattern takes its geometry from rock formations, a detail that sounds like marketing until you see it applied consistently across the dashboard and door panels as well.
MINI partnered with Italian rooftop tent specialist AUTOHOME on a separately available roof tent designed specifically for the Countryman. Both the hard shell and the tent itself are handcrafted in Italy, with glass-fiber reinforced construction for durability and insulation. Integrated gas struts open the tent in seconds, and the design includes panoramic openings and a weather-resistant interior. The 661-pound static roof load capacity means the Countryman can handle the tent’s weight without issue.
The HELINOX collaboration adds an exclusive camping collection — folding chairs and camping tables in Untamed Edition design language — prioritizing lightweight construction and portability. Neither partnership feels like a catalog add-on; both were developed alongside the vehicle rather than sourced after the fact.
The 2027 MINI Countryman S ALL4 Untamed Edition carries a base MSRP of $43,900, which includes the suspension lift, all-terrain tires, trailer hitch, Dark Steel exterior details, exclusive colors, and the Untamed-specific interior package. The Iconic Trim with Comfort Package Plus adds $3,400; a Universal Garage Door Opener runs $250; a Space-Saver Spare is $300. Destination and handling are not included in the stated price.
Pricing for the all-electric Countryman SE ALL4 Untamed Edition has not been announced. Production begins at BMW Group Plant Leipzig in November 2026, with U.S. customer deliveries expected in early 2027. For buyers who have been watching the adventure-crossover segment fill up with larger, thirstier options, the Untamed Edition makes a pointed argument that compact does not have to mean compromised.
