The new Lepas L8 plug-in hybrid is now available to order in the UK, becoming the first model from the new Chinese brand to go on sale.
The L8 is the flagship model in the Lepas range, with the smaller L6 electric SUV set to follow. It launches in two trim levels – ‘Essence’ and ‘Elevate’.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor and 18kWh battery. Lepas says the L8 can travel for up to 56 miles on electric power, with a claimed combined petrol and electric range of up to 745 miles.
That puts the L8 into an increasingly busy part of the plug-in hybrid SUV market, where it will compete with models including the BYD Seal U DM-i, Jaecoo 7 and MG HS plug-in hybrid.
The Lepas L8 ‘Essence’ costs just under £35k, while the better-equipped ‘Elevate’ is priced at £38k. Both versions are available to order now through the brand’s growing UK dealer network.
Lepas is offering a £500 discount for eligible private customers who test drive and order a car before the end of September.
