KTM has brought the 390 Enduro R back for 2027, giving its lightweight dual-sport a styling refresh while retaining the mechanical package that made its debut in 2025. Showcased at EICMA 2026 in Milan, the updated model continues to offer street-legal versatility with an emphasis on off-road capability, sitting below the larger 690 Enduro R in KTM’s dual-sport lineup.
The KTM 390 Enduro R retains its 398.7cc single-cylinder engine, adjustable WP suspension, and dirt-oriented wheel configuration. KTM hasn’t announced US pricing for the updated motorcycle, although the outgoing 2026 model carries a $6,049 MSRP. For now, the changes are primarily cosmetic, with no announced revisions to engine performance or chassis geometry.
The biggest news for 2027 concerns the bike’s appearance. KTM has revised the 390 Enduro R’s styling and graphics, giving the motorcycle an updated look without changing its underlying design. Its slim bodywork, high-mounted front fender, and flat, single-piece seat continue to emphasize its off-road intentions. The bodywork uses flexible polypropylene plastic intended to withstand the demands of trail riding, while the compact 2.38-gallon metal fuel tank helps maintain a narrow profile. The bike also features adjustable footpegs, allowing riders to tailor their standing position. LED lighting inspired by the larger 690 Enduro R completes the package.
Power comes from KTM’s LC4c single-cylinder engine, which also serves as the foundation for the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure R. The liquid-cooled, DOHC four-valve engine displaces 398.7cc and produces a claimed 44.4 horsepower and 28.8 pound-feet of torque. The engine features Bosch electronic fuel injection and throttle-by-wire, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. A wet multiplate clutch handles power delivery, while a chain transfers drive to the rear wheel. KTM hasn’t announced internal engine revisions for 2027, so would-be owners can expect the same basic powertrain architecture as the previous model.
The 390 Enduro R’s off-road credentials come from its chassis hardware. A powder-coated steel trellis frame supports a 43mm WP Apex open-cartridge inverted fork and WP Apex split-piston rear shock. Both ends deliver 9.06 inches of suspension travel, with adjustable compression and rebound damping up front and preload and rebound adjustment at the rear. Wire-spoke wheels measure 21 inches up front and 18 inches at the rear, following the conventional enduro layout. Braking duties fall to a single 285mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and a 240mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper.
Ground clearance measures 10.7 inches, while the seat stands 35.0 inches tall. The bike has a 58.1-inch wheelbase and a claimed curb weight of 364 pounds. Those dimensions reinforce its positioning as a dirt-oriented dual-sport rather than a road-biased adventure motorcycle.
Despite its stripped-down appearance, the 390 Enduro R features a useful selection of electronic rider aids. Street and Off Road riding modes adjust throttle response and traction control intervention, while the Bosch ABS system provides a dedicated off-road setting that allows the rear wheel to lock. Riders can also disable ABS entirely using a dedicated button, a useful provision for experienced off-road riders who prefer direct braking control on loose surfaces.
A 4.2-inch TFT display provides access to riding modes and vehicle information, alongside smartphone connectivity for navigation, music, and incoming calls. A USB-C charging port is also included, giving the relatively basic dual-sport some modern everyday conveniences.
The 2027 KTM 390 Enduro R occupies an interesting middle ground between smaller trail motorcycles and more expensive, higher-displacement dual-sports. It shares its engine family with the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure R, but ditches the adventure bike’s touring-oriented equipment in favor of simpler bodywork and a compact fuel tank.
Its closest in-house alternative is the 390 Adventure R, which targets riders seeking a broader mix of road travel and off-road exploration. The Enduro R instead prioritizes the traditional dual-sport formula, with long suspension travel, a tall seat, and dirt-oriented wheels.
For riders shopping for a street-legal motorcycle intended to spend much of its time away from pavement, the 390 Enduro R offers a distinctive combination of modern electronics and enduro-style hardware. With its mechanical package largely unchanged, the outstanding question for 2027 is whether KTM can retain the outgoing model’s competitive pricing.
