Charlie Brundle, an automotive designer, partnered with Gunther Werks to build the Brundle Edition Turbo, an 860-hp 911 restomod sports car honoring the racing career of her father, Martin Brundle. It wears his name, initials, and old helmet livery, trading spec-sheet bragging for something far more personal.

Only five examples will exist, a different kind of flex for a company known for pushing the air-cooled Porsche 911 formula to extremes. Each one puts a motorsport lineage into carbon fiber and sheet metal rather than chasing a dyno number.

A Family Collaboration Built Into Every Panel

Martin Brundle’s résumé reads like a highlight reel: F1 podiums, a World Sportscar Championship, outright wins at Le Mans and Daytona, a stint in rally, and one of the fastest time up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. These days he’s better known for chasing drivers and celebrities down the F1 grid with a microphone for his famous Grid Walks, but this car recalls his years before he hung up his gloves.

Charlie’s choice of the two-tone pearl livery comes straight from one of her father’s old race helmets. “BRUNDLE” is scripted across the rear in Porsche-style lettering, MB is embossed into the carbon bucket seat headrests, and his name appears on the forged magnesium wheels and door sills. Every car also comes with a matching Bell helmet signed by Martin.

“Designing a car that celebrates my father’s racing career has been an incredibly personal experience,” Charlie said. “To translate that legacy into a design that reflects both his achievements and our relationship as father and daughter is something truly special.”

The Hardware Still Hits Gunther Werks’ Usual Benchmarks

The Brundle Edition runs a turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-six making 860 hp and 610 lb-ft, routed through a six-speed manual rather than a paddle-shift box. That alone sets it apart from many modern restomods relying on dual-clutch gearboxes to tame big power.

A bespoke double-wishbone suspension and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes keep it track-capable rather than a garage ornament. Dashboard stitching reads, “The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel,” a line Brundle didn’t coin but has repeated for years on broadcasts. It fits a car built around his career better than any horsepower figure could.

What Separates This From A Standard Gunther Werks Build

Gunther Werks built its name on air-cooled 911 restomods for collectors chasing the biggest power figure or the rarest color combination. The Brundle Edition doesn’t try to out-spec the Touring Turbo, using the formula as a canvas for a family story instead.

Pricing and delivery dates haven’t been announced, but with five units from a company whose builds already sit in seven-figure territory, nobody expects a bargain. For fans who’ve followed Brundle’s career as closely as his commentary, this might be the rarest merchandise his name ever appears on.
