A road car broke the world record for the fastest production-car sprint to 100 kph (62 mph) in 1994, and barely anyone noticed. Less than 40 of these supercars were ever built, hand-assembled in a small workshop, and most buyers never saw one in person, let alone got behind the wheel. An entire generation did get behind the wheel, though, just not in real life. They met this car in Gran Turismo, grinding through championships on a PlayStation to unlock it, with no idea what they were actually driving.
