ToggleThe Changan Deepal S05 Ultra is a mid-sized plug-in hybrid SUV that arrived in UK showrooms in Autumn 2026. The range also includes an all-electric model, which we cover here.
A leftfield rival to the likes of the Citroën C5 Aircross, Jaecoo 7 and Volkswagen Tiguan, the Deepal S05 Ultra has had limited reviewer coverage at the time of writing, but the outlook is generally positive.
The Car Expert’s own Andrew Charman argues that the Ultra offers more practicality when compared to its all-electric twin while “retaining some of the EV’s less than impressive driving dynamics.”
While praising the Deepal S05 Ultra for its easy driving experience, pricing and equipment list, Electrifying.com’s Sam Burnett instead casts doubt on the Changan’s footprint and name recognition in the UK. “I don’t think anyone who buys one of these will be at all unhappy with it, it’s just the challenge of getting them there in the first place.”
Once we have a larger collection of UK-based reviews to present, and we have collected running cost estimations ofr the SUV, we will give the Changan Deepal S05 Ultra an Expert Rating score. Check back soon!
