Nissan is bringing the Sentra Spec-V back from the dead, and this time it’s got a turbo. The automaker confirmed it will debut a 300-horsepower Sentra Spec-V concept at SEMA 2026, running Nov. 3-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, alongside two Z-based builds that dig deep into NISMO parts bins and SCCA racing rules.

It’s not a coincidence that this lands 35 years after the Sentra SE-R first showed up in North America. Nissan is leaning hard into that lineage, and the build sheet backs it up: GT-R NISMO components, a manual swapped in from a Juke NISMO RS, and a widebody kit that makes the compact sedan look like it means business. The brand says these three SEMA concepts, plus a fourth car called the Z Kaze, are a direct response to what the enthusiast community has been asking for.

A Turbocharged MR20DD Brings The Spec-V Name Back To Life

Under the hood sits a turbocharged version of the 2.0-liter MR20DD, built up with a Garrett G25-550 turbo, Carrillo rods, JE pistons, and a front-mount intercooler, making 300 horsepower at the wheels. Power routes through a modified NISMO Juke RS six-speed manual with a helical limited-slip diff, backed by a Centerforce flywheel and clutch kit.

The chassis gets the full GT-R treatment. Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, pulled straight from the R35 GT-R NISMO parts catalog, clamp down on two-piece cross-drilled rotors. Recaro front seats, also GT-R NISMO-sourced, sit inside a cabin finished with a NISMO steering wheel and a custom harness bar. A BOMEX widebody kit and an R35 GT-R NISMO rear spoiler finish the look, riding on 19-inch NISMO LM-RS1 forged wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan Neova rubber.

Project NAT2 Turns A Z Into A Grassroots Racer

The second build comes from Nissan’s Acceleration Team, a volunteer group of employees who race on their own time. Project NAT2 is a Z built to SCCA Touring 2 specification, running a VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 fitted with 38mm turbo inlet restrictors to stay class-legal, a NISMO-designed GT4 exhaust, and a Z1 Motorsports custom tune.

Inside, it’s stripped to the bone: no carpet, no sound deadening, no HVAC, with cut door panels and a lightweight aluminum floor tray replacing what used to be a daily-driver interior. A Huffmaster Motorsports roll cage, Sabelt halo seat, and a Lifeline fire suppression system handle safety, while an AiM data logger and cockpit camera handle the telemetry side of actual wheel-to-wheel racing.

Chris Forsberg’s S30 Mixes Datsun Styling With Z Power

The third car is a Datsun S30 restomod built by Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg, pairing the original Z’s silhouette with the twin-turbo VR30DDTT out of the current Z, backed by the Z’s FS6 six-speed manual and a NISMO R200 limited-slip differential. Garrett PMAX turbos and a Radium Engineering fuel system round out the powertrain work.

Forsberg’s team replaced the front fenders, hood, air dam, bumpers, hatch, and spoiler with carbon fiber, then wrapped the car in Nissan Seiran Blue. A Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear brake conversion, Techno Toy Tuning suspension, and NISMO LM-RS6 wheels round out a build meant to show what happens when a Z expert with decades of seat time gets a blank check.

What This Means For Future Nissan Products

Nissan

Nissan says these builds exist to take the temperature of the enthusiast community and feed ideas back into production. It’s not an empty line, either; the automaker points to the Rock Creek off-road trims on the Rogue, Kicks, and Pathfinder as proof that past SEMA concepts have shaped real showroom products. None of the three cars debuting at booth #21521 in Central Hall are for sale, but some of the NISMO and Nissan accessory parts bolted to them are already available through dealerships.

For a brand that built its reputation on the SE-R, the GT-R, and the Z, showing up to SEMA with a turbocharged Spec-V and two serious Z builds is as close to a mission statement as Nissan gets.
