BMW has pulled the wraps off the iX3 M60 xDrive, the most powerful version yet of its first Neue Klasse model and the new performance flagship of the electric iX3 lineup. Dual Gen6 electric motors combine for 603 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque, enough to launch the SUV from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds and on to a 149-mph top speed. It draws from a 112.2-kWh battery that accepts DC fast charging at up to 400 kW. To back up the numbers, BMW fits Adaptive M Suspension, variable sport steering, an electronically controlled M Sport rear differential, and model-specific chassis tuning as standard. Optional M Yellow Lights inspired by the M Hybrid V8 race car set it apart visually. Orders open at the end of January 2027, and production starts at BMW’s Debrecen, Hungary, plant in spring 2027.
Inside, the iX3 M60 xDrive follows the Neue Klasse layout, built around the driver and a new way of interacting with the car. The centerpiece is BMW Panoramic iDrive running BMW Operating System X. It ties together the displays, the steering wheel, and the available head-up display so the right information shows up where and when the driver needs it.
BMW Panoramic Vision comes standard and projects driving information across the base of the windshield, in the driver’s line of sight. The optional 3D Head-Up Display does the same. A 17.9-inch free-cut Central Display is angled toward the driver.
The M Sport steering wheel uses shy-tech controls and has a red marker at 12 o’clock. Dedicated buttons trigger Boost Mode and M Mode. Two M-specific My Modes, M Sport and M Sport Plus, are also available at the touch of a button, and each changes how the drivetrain, chassis, and steering respond.
The M60 gets its own display treatment, with unique colors, graphics, and typography that set it apart from lesser iX3 models. A power meter shows current output, available reserves, and the live recuperation rate.
Optional M Sport seats have deep side bolsters for support in hard cornering. They offer 10-way power adjustment, including lumbar support, backrest width, and thigh support, plus a massage function. The integrated head restraints carry an illuminated M logo, and the illuminated seat controls sit in the door panels.
Standard trim is the BMW M interior design, with black Veganza upholstery and M PerformTex. Buyers can step up to the Contemporary interior instead, offered in Black, Castanea, Digital White, and Agave Green Veganza.
The top option is BMW Individual, which pairs Veganza with Merino leather on the seat cushions. M Sport seats can also be ordered in Bi-color Adelaide Grey, which combines M PerformTex with Merino leather surfaces. In total, BMW offers three interior designs and seven upholstery choices.
A Harman Kardon sound system with 13 speakers and 430 watts is standard. It supports Dolby Atmos, which places and moves sound within the cabin for a more three-dimensional effect with compatible music, video, and games.
With the optional BMW Digital Premium, owners get M-specific apps that tap into real-time vehicle data. The M Cockpit app lets drivers build custom dashboards, and the M Drag Meter records acceleration runs. My Modes can also tailor the lighting, sound, displays, and driving responses, and owners can even set their own photos as Central Display wallpaper through the My BMW App.
The iX3’s rear cargo area holds 18.4 cubic feet, expanding to 61.8 cubic feet with the rear bench folded. A front trunk adds about two more cubic feet.
