The middleweight naked bike segment is highly competitive, thanks to the everyday versatility it offers. The Kawasaki Z900 sits at the upper end of the segment, while offering the most power below the $10,000 mark. For 2026, the Kawasaki Z900 and its SE model return unchanged mechanically, and the MSRP stays the same.
Kawasaki calls the Z900’s styling the ultimate expression of its Sugomi design philosophy, which it describes as the “intense aura of a powerful object.” The aggressive look pairs with a 948cc inline-four engine, a steel trellis frame, adjustable suspension, and 6-axis IMU-enabled electronics. The 2026 Kawasaki Z900 SE adds higher-grade Ohlins rear suspension, Brembo front calipers, a two-tone seat, and distinctive colors.
Power comes from a 948cc inline-four engine producing 123 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 73.1 lb-ft at 7,700 rpm. The company says the engine is tuned for smooth, linear power delivery. The powerplant pairs with a 6-speed gearbox, return-shift assist, a slipper clutch, and a standard bidirectional quickshifter. Kawi also designed the intake with acoustic testing for a throaty intake howl.
The 123-hp output makes the Z900 the most powerful naked sportbike under $10,000 in the United States. It outshines its 100+ hp rivals, including the 105-hp BMW F 900 R ($10,495 MSRP), 118.4-hp Triumph Street Triple R ($10,595 MSRP), Yamaha MT-09 ($10,899 MSRP), and 119-hp KTM 990 Duke ($11,999 MSRP). The CFMoto 800 NK undercuts the Z900 at an MSRP of $8,199 but produces 100 hp.
The Kawasaki naked uses a high-tensile steel trellis frame and a lightweight aluminum swingarm tuned for nimble handling. Both the Z900 and Z900 SE feature a 41mm USD fork and a rear monoshock, both adjustable for rebound damping and spring preload. The Z900 SE swaps the rear monoshock for a higher-spec Ohlins S46 and anodizes the fork’s outer tubes gold.
On the standard model, braking comes from dual Nissin radial-mount monobloc calipers gripping 300mm discs and a single-piston caliper gripping a 250mm disc. The SE model upgrades the front braking setup with Brembo M4.32 radial-monobloc calipers, steel braided lines, and a Nissin radial master cylinder. The 17-inch wheels wear Dunlop Sportmax Q5A high-performance street tires.
The Z900 offers upright ergonomics, with a flat-type handlebar and rear-set pegs. The standard seat height is 31.9 inches, and Kawasaki also offers Ergo-Fit seats for better comfort. The Z900 SE features a 2-tone seat with thicker foam and a leather-like look. Elsewhere, the bike has a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and a lean-angle indicator, cruise control, and LED lighting all around. The SE model also gets a USB Type-C outlet.
Tech-wise, the Kawi naked features a 6-axis IMU that supports cornering ABS,, and lean-sensitive 3-mode traction control. The two power modes include Full and Low; the latter limits engine output to 75 percent. Meanwhile, four riding modes, including Sport, Road, Rain, and custom, let you adjust the bike’s rider aids for different riding conditions.
The 2026 Kawasaki Z900 ABS base model has an MSRP of $9,999 and is available in two colorways: Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray/Metallic Flat Spark Black and Pearl Blizzard White/Ebony.
The 2026 Kawasaki Z900 SE ABS has an MSRP of $11,999 and is available in one colorway: Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray/Metallic Matte Carbon Gray. Both the Z900 and Z900 SE models are available at Kawasaki dealers in the United States.
