• Investment in US market comes on the heels of £500m investment announcement to expand UK manufacturing, engineering and operations
McLaren today celebrates the grand opening of its new Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) in Baltimore. The event, which featured special guests Governor of Maryland, Wes Moore, McLaren Automotive CEO, Nick Collins, McLaren Automotive CCO, Henrik Wilhelsmeyer, McLaren Automotive CQO, Jochen Schnez, and McLaren Americas President, Nicolas Brown, allowed attendees the opportunity to see first hand the capabilities of the VPC, as well interact with a curated line up of McLaren supercars.
Apart from representing an investment in both facilities and tooling in excess of $10 million, the VPC also provides jobs in the local economy for highly skilled automotive technicians as well as paint, logistics and management personnel.
‘Our state is the best place for businesses to grow; and we are thrilled to house McLaren’s brand new processing center, creating new opportunities for Marylanders to thrive. Our administration is committed to building a dynamic economy fueled by the most innovative businesses in the world. Maryland’s skilled workforce, state of the art infrastructure, and collaborative partnerships will help McLaren, as we turbocharge our state.’

‘A little over a year ago, we came together to break ground on this facility, and now it is open and functioning as one of the most advanced VPCs in the world. This facility shows an incredible investment in the Americas market, and allows us the opportunity to better ensure every McLaren delivered in this region exceeds the standards our customers expect.’
Nicolas Brown, President, McLaren Americas
The VPC was developed in partnership with Tradepoint Atlantic which has been committed to revitalizing the former steel making facility into a global industrial supply chain and logistics hub to provide new jobs and investment into the region’s economy.
‘We are proud to welcome McLaren to Tradepoint Atlantic and to Baltimore. McLaren joins a growing roster of iconic automotive brands that have chosen Tradepoint as a critical link in their global supply chains. This investment is another strong vote of confidence in the Port of Baltimore and reinforces our region’s longstanding prominence as one of the nation’s premier gateways for vehicle imports and automotive logistics. We look forward to supporting McLaren’s growth here and celebrating the jobs, investment, and economic activity this new facility will bring to our region.’
Kerry Doyle, Managing Director, Tradepoint Atlantic
The VPC is another example of McLaren’s continued investment in the future. In September, the brand announced a £500m investment program to expand its UK manufacturing, engineering and operations. This funding will accelerate the development of its next generation of models, including its first performance SUV. A further $100m investment is expected in the Americas in the next twelve months in sales and service facilities.
