The 2027 Range Rover Electric Makes 542 HP and 333 Miles of Range, and That Changes the Ultra-Luxury EV Math

Land Rover revealed the full specifications for the 2027 Range Rover Electric on September 2, 2026, and the numbers reframe what ultra-luxury EV buyers have to consider. Twin permanent-magnet motors produce 542 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, the EPA rates range at 333 miles, and the starting price lands at $140,550 — placing the Electric squarely between the Bentley Bentayga EV and the Rolls-Royce Spectre in the segment where heritage and badge cachet have historically done the heavy lifting.

For the first time, shoppers at this price point have a direct spec-and-price comparison to make across three very different luxury nameplates. The Range Rover brings charging technology and off-road capability that neither rival can match, while the Bentley and Rolls-Royce carry their own arguments in design and brand prestige. The decision just got considerably more complicated.

542 HP, 333 Miles, and a 22-Minute Fast-Charge Window

The powertrain is built around two 260 kW permanent-magnet synchronous motors — one per axle — drawing from a 118.5 kWh double-stacked lithium-ion battery mounted under the floor. Combined output of 542 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque is what Land Rover calls “V8 levels of power,” and the 0–60 mph time of 4.3 seconds backs that up. A mid-range passing pull from 50 to 75 mph takes just 2.7 seconds.

The 800-volt architecture enables DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, adding 125 miles of range in 10 minutes and completing a 10–80 percent charge in around 22 minutes. A feature Land Rover calls “split charging” divides the double-stacked pack into two virtual units, allowing the Electric to charge efficiently on common 400-volt DC fast chargers rather than requiring the less widely available 800-volt infrastructure. North American buyers get a native NACS port with access to the Tesla Supercharger network, plus ISO 15118 plug-and-charge support.

How It Stacks Up Against the Bentayga EV and Rolls-Royce Spectre

The Bentley Bentayga EV starts around $160,000 and produces 584 hp, edging the Range Rover on power but trailing it on EPA-rated range — the Bentayga EV is rated at approximately 270 miles. The Rolls-Royce Spectre, which starts above $420,000, makes 577 hp and is rated at 260 miles of EPA range. On paper, the Range Rover Electric undercuts both on price, beats both on range, and sits close enough on power to make the gap feel academic in real-world driving.

The acceleration comparison tells a similar story. The Bentayga EV reaches 60 mph in about 3.8 seconds; the Spectre does it in 4.4 seconds. The Range Rover’s 4.3-second run puts it between the two. What the Range Rover adds that neither rival offers is 800-volt charging architecture, a 350-kW peak charge rate, and genuine off-road capability — ground clearance up to 10.3 inches, 900mm wading depth, and a traction management system that responds to wheel slip in 50 milliseconds.

Same Design, Same Platform, Thoroughly Different Powertrain

Land Rover’s approach was deliberate: make the Electric a Range Rover first. It rides on the same MLA-Flex (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) platform as the gas, diesel, and plug-in hybrid variants, and it’s built on the same Solihull production line. Apart from an aerodynamically optimized grille, revised wheels, and a flat underbody, the exterior is visually identical to the combustion models. Inside, fine wood trim, metal accents, and a full range of premium fabrics — including genuine leather and a new leather-free Ultrafabrics option — carry over unchanged.

Trim structure runs from SE and HSE through Autobiography, SV, SV Ultra, and SV Black, in both standard and long-wheelbase body configurations. A curated First Edition is available in Belgravia Green, Santorini Black, or Varesine Blue, with Light Cloud Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat interior trim. The powertrain warranty covers eight years or 100,000 miles. The Electric goes on sale in 2027.

At $140,550, the Range Rover Electric asks luxury SUV buyers to weigh a familiar silhouette and a genuinely capable charging setup against the cachet of Bentley and Rolls-Royce badges that cost considerably more. The specs make the case clearly. Whether badge prestige ultimately wins out is a different question — one buyers in this segment will be answering for the first time with real numbers in front of them.
