• USAC to oversee pre-race and post-race technical inspections
• Eligible cars: 911 Cup (Type 992.2), 911 GT3 Cup (Types 992.1 & 991.2), 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, and 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport
• A recently teased Porsche race car will also be eligible
Like the 2026 launch of Porsche Sprint Trophy Porsche Club of America on the East Coast, the series offers novice and experienced racers the chance to compete as a destination series or as a gateway to the North American Porsche Motorsport Pyramid. Rob Walker, currently racing in Porsche Carrera Cup North America, and Fred Poordad, who won the 2023 Rolex 24 At Daytona, are just two examples of drivers who got their start in POC racing and Time Trials.
The series will feature the new Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2), Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Types 992.1 & 991.2), along with the current Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and its predecessor, the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, competing alongside each other in their own class during each event. Another Porsche race car, which was recently teased but is currently unannounced, will also be eligible, subject to final sporting and technical regulations.
‘We are excited to work more closely with the Porsche Owners Club and launch the Porsche Sprint Trophy Porsche Owners Club together,’ said Volker Holzmeyer, President and CEO of Porsche Motorsport North America. ‘POC has built a strong community around Porsche motorsport, bringing together drivers who share a passion for racing, learning, and supporting one another on and off the track. That spirit of camaraderie, combined with a long-standing commitment to driver development, makes POC an ideal partner for this series.
‘The new championship strengthens the North American Porsche Motorsport Pyramid by creating an accessible and cost-effective racing opportunity on the West Coast, complementing Porsche Sprint Trophy PCA in the East. At the same time, it preserves what has always made POC special: a race-focused environment where drivers can progress, build lasting relationships, and enjoy the unique experience of competing with fellow Porsche enthusiasts.’
The new program will feature onsite technical and parts support from PMNA, while USAC will oversee technical scrutineering.
Established in 1955, the POC holds between nine and 12 track events per year. That includes a Performance Driving Series for drivers who are new to track day events, Time Trial sessions with point-by and open passing groupings depending on driver experience and car prep, and at least two wheel-to-wheel racing groups. Drivers have the opportunity to progress from their first on-track experience to full racing competition without leaving the POC. From there, they may pursue opportunities to compete in the national-level Porsche Sprint Challenge or Porsche Carrera Cup North America championships.
‘The POC is elated to welcome home the Porsche Sprint Trophy Series to our playground,’ John Momeyer, President of the Porsche Owners Club, said. ‘Partnering with PMNA and USAC for this series will bring a new and unique look to our paddock. We have always enjoyed being part of the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid and seeing drivers come through our club races and progress to the next level of Porsche driving. This series further supports a path for a POC club member to learn to drive on track, participate in Time Trials, go club racing while participating in a Trophy Series, and then take the next step up the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid.’
