• Class-leading standard range of 268 miles, with 30-80% charge in just 24 minutes
• Styled for Europe at AION parent GAC’s design studio in Milan
• AION Great 8 Promise as standard: eight-year warranty, eight years’ servicing, eight years’ roadside assistance and MOT until the car is eight years old
Order books for the second model from AION – the UT – will open in September, before first customer deliveries of the stylish new hatchback kick off in October.
The electric AION UT will reset what UK motorists can expect from a B-segment supermini in terms of class-leading space, quality, refinement and premium-level features.
Its 60kWh battery provides 268 miles of range, the longest standard range in its class, and is capable of charging from 30-80% in just 24 minutes. A powerful 204PS motor delivers punchy acceleration, sprinting from 0-62 mph in just 7.3 seconds, making it one of the nippiest superminis on the market.
The UT is available in five colours, with its playful, distinctive face brought to life by owl-inspired headlights and a 2×2 ‘ice cube’ indicator and DRL cluster. Its interior is characterised by high-quality materials and a raft of standard features usually reserved for higher segments, including heated front seats, 14.6′ central touch screen and 360° surround-view camera.
The single trim level can be enhanced with an optional Premium Pack that adds further high-class features, including panoramic glass roof, powered tailgate, ventilated driver’s seat and wireless phone charging.
‘The AION UT is a small car that acts big on longer journeys. It’s the perfect nippy weekday runaround, with the space and range to comfortably take the family on weekend road trips,’ said Jon Wakefield, Managing Director of AION Auto UK.
‘With its styling led by GAC’s Milan design studio specifically for the European market, the UT’s playful character and exceptional specification – combined with our AION Great 8 Promise – is really going to appeal to anyone looking for more from a compact car,’ he added.
Not only was it designed in Europe, but the UT has been engineered for UK roads, going beyond the work already undertaken on the AION V earlier this year. As well as modifications to the springs, dampers, bump-stops and calibration, the UT also gets a revised anti-roll bar.
The UT comes with the industry-leading AION Great 8 Promise as standard, providing an eight-year warranty, eight years’ servicing, eight years’ roadside assistance and MOT until the car is eight years old. This VIN-locked offering stays linked to the vehicle, even when ownership transfers to another driver, ensuring that current and future AION owners benefit from the best aftersales package in the UK.
