The Mercedes-Maybach GLS has sat at the summit of the luxury SUV world since 2019, and Maybach isn’t about to let anyone else claim that view. The new GLS 680 arrives with a redesigned face, a reworked cabin, and a long list of quiet upgrades aimed squarely at the buyer who notices everything.
The changes start before you even open a door. An illuminated grille surround, a subtly lit MAYBACH name within the grille, and an optional illuminated hood star announce the vehicle from a distance. Inside, new leather and trim options, additional acoustic insulation, and expanded massage functions push the cabin further into private-jet territory. Assembly still happens in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where a dedicated Maybach team hand-finishes each example outside the regular SUV line.
The new MBUX Superscreen tucks three 12.3-inch displays beneath a single seamless pane of glass. The Maybach-specific driver display uses Rose Gold dials that throw reflections across the surface like light through fine jewelry, with a gold Maybach emblem sitting between them and a textured gold, rose gold, and black backdrop behind.

The outer climate vents are now illuminated and visually integrated into the glass on either side of the Superscreen. Conventional fins are gone, replaced by freely moving gondolas that aim airflow precisely while doubling as dashboard jewelry.

The multi-contour front seats gain a newly developed vibration massage built into the seat cushions. In back, the Executive Seats add a massage function that extends to the calf rests for the first time in a Maybach GLS.

Beech Brown / Macchiato Beige Maybach Exclusive Nappa leather joins the upholstery list, adding warmth to the cabin. Two new trims come along with it: Natural Grain Brown Walnut Wood and an exclusive High-Gloss Silver Metallic Mixed Fabric. Between the rear seats, trim panels hide the glass door of the optional refrigerated compartment.

The extended MANUFAKTUR portfolio includes full leather packages that run all the way up to the headliner. Crafted in Sindelfingen, each one is hand-stitched entirely by a single craftsperson who signs their own work, combining up to 20 precisely cut leather sections. It’s the most requested MANUFAKTUR refinement among Maybach buyers globally in 2026.

The standard Burmester 3D Surround Sound System has been upgraded with two additional surround speakers in the rear cabin and a more powerful 710-watt amplifier. That brings the count to 15 speakers and widens the acoustic range for every seat.

A multi-stage filtration system comes standard and fully renews the interior air roughly every 90 seconds. A new electric filter ionizes fine dust particles while a pre-filter catches larger debris before it reaches the cabin, and the electric filter keeps working even in recirculation mode.

Additional insulation lines the transmission tunnel and engine bulkhead, while a specially developed cover reduces high-frequency noise from the V8. Acoustic foam in select areas of the bodyshell blocks engine, road, and wind noise from filtering through.

The redesigned Maybach-specific radiator grille anchors the new front end, its illuminated surround creating a distinctive nighttime signature. For the first time on the Maybach GLS, the MAYBACH name glows subtly within the grille itself.

The standing Mercedes-Benz star atop the hood can now be illuminated as an option, another first for the model. It’s a small touch, but one that reads instantly from a distance.
