The Kawasaki Z H2 is the company’s flagship Z-series motorcycle, combining supercharged performance, upright ergonomics, and aggressive Sugomi design. Described as the most exhilarating Z model ever, this Kawi flagship hypernaked returns to the United States for 2027 unchanged mechanically, with a slightly higher MSRP of $22,299.
The 2027 Kawasaki Z H2 is among the most powerful and advanced naked motorcycles on the market today, with a boosted engine, semi-active suspension, top-shelf hardware, and six-axis IMU-enabled electronics. Wrapped in aggressive, muscular Sugomi styling befitting a flagship Z model, it remains unchanged for 2027. So let’s look at what it carries over into the next model year.
The flagship Z model is powered by a Ninja H2-derived, liquid-cooled 998cc supercharged inline-four engine, and for 2027, power output remains at 197 horsepower and 101 lb-ft of torque. Kawasaki says the engine is tuned for stronger low- to mid-range power and manageable output. It’s paired with a 6-speed gearbox with an assist-and-slipper clutch and a bidirectional quickshifter.
Despite remaining unchanged for 2027, the Z H2 maintains its position as one of the most powerful naked bikes in the American market and the most powerful Japanese-origin model. The only naked bikes that make more power are the 208-hp MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR and Rush Mamba, the 205-hp BMW M 1000 R, and the 205-hp Ducati Streetfighter V4.
The surrounding hardware remains the same for 2027, including the compact trellis frame designed for a wide range of riding situations and nimble handling. Suspension includes semi-active Showa hardware: a 43mm SFF-BP fork and a link-type BFRC Lite rear shock. Brembo handles braking, with a Brembo master cylinder, dual 320mm discs and a Brembo M4.32 radial-monobloc calipers up front, plus a 260mm disc gripped by a single-piston caliper.
The design and chassis hardware give the bike upright ergonomics, with a flat fat-type handlebar and a 32.7-inch seat height. Tech features include a TFT display with smartphone connectivity, LED lights, and cruise control. Rider aids are managed by a six-axis IMU, enabling traction control, wheelie control, launch control, engine brake control, and ABS. Power is managed through four riding modes: Sport, Road, Rain, and custom map.
The Kawasaki Z H2 is designed around the idea of ‘Sugomi,’ a Japanese term for ‘great power and presence,’ that Kawi says it takes as inspiration with respect to its Z-bike designs. The brand has used minimal bodywork on its naked sportbike, and aims for a distinctive profile to give the bike an aggressive stance. That’s evident throughout the bike, including the sculpted tank, the angular headlight nacelle, and the muscular RAM air intake running along the left side.
The 2027 Kawasaki Z H2 has an MSRP of $22,299, $300 up from the 2026 model year. It will be available in Metallic Matte Graphene Gray/Metallic Matte Carbon Gray and will reach Kawasaki dealerships in the US by the end of this month.
