Bentley, the British luxury automaker, has officially announced the name of its long-awaited fourth model line, and its first ever EV, confirming that the all-new Bentley Torcal will make its global debut in London on September 23, 2026. It joins the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga as just the fourth standalone model family in Bentley’s modern lineup—a major milestone for a company that has traditionally favored quality over quantity.
While Bentley is keeping the car itself under wraps for now, the company is making one thing very clear — this isn’t just another model. According to the brand, the Torcal represents an entirely new chapter in its 107-year history.
Bentley Replaced The W12 And Made The Continental GT Faster
Bentley replaced the W12 with a hybrid V8, making the new Continental GT S faster, sharper, and more powerful than before.
Like the Bentayga, Bacalar, and Batur before it, Bentley has once again looked to the natural world for inspiration. The Torcal takes its name from El Torcal de Antequera, a spectacular limestone landscape in southern Spain famous for its towering rock formations, twisting paths, and dramatic scenery that has been shaped over millions of years.
But the name goes even deeper than geography. The word “Torcal” traces its roots back to the Latin word torquere, meaning “to twist”—the same linguistic origin that eventually gave us the modern word torque. For a performance-focused luxury brand like Bentley, that’s a fitting connection. Torque has always been synonymous with effortless acceleration, and effortless performance has long been one of Bentley’s defining traits.
Bentley Chairman and CEO Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser wasn’t shy about setting expectations.
For 107 years Bentleys have been the most incredibly complete cars – effortless performance, outstanding comfort, exquisite British handcraftsmanship using the best natural materials and a soundtrack with soul. Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters, and may just be the most considered car in our history.
The Torcal becomes only the fourth core model line in Bentley’s range, joining three established nameplates that have carried the brand through the modern luxury era.
Unlike limited-production projects such as the Bacalar or Batur, the Torcal appears destined to become a permanent member of Bentley’s lineup, suggesting it will play a significant role in the brand’s future product strategy. Bentley describes the newcomer as “new in concept, yet Bentley to its core,” promising that it will continue the blend of handcrafted luxury, premium natural materials, refinement, and effortless performance that has defined the marque since 1919.
Bentley’s new luxury EV SUV is going to be a huge moment for the carmaker. Given the industry’s shift toward electrification and Bentley’s ongoing transformation, the Torcal is widely expected to showcase the company’s next generation of luxury design and technology while maintaining the brand’s unmistakable identity. For now, Bentley has revealed only the name—but if the company is calling it “the most considered car” in its history, expectations are already sky-high.
There’s another reason to be excited. The Torcal is expected to ride on the Volkswagen Group’s cutting-edge Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture—the same foundation underpinning the upcoming Porsche Cayenne Electric. If that’s the case, Bentley buyers could be looking at a luxury SUV packing well over 1,000 horsepower, enormous torque, nearly 400 miles of range, and ultra-fast 400-kW charging. Bentley will undoubtedly tune it for effortless refinement rather than outright aggression, but don’t be surprised if the Torcal ends up being one of the quickest and most technologically advanced Bentleys ever built.
Bentley is playing the long game here. Rather than flooding the market with endless new models, it’s spent over a century carefully building one of the strongest luxury lineups in the business. That makes the arrival of a completely new model line genuinely exciting. The name alone hints at performance and heritage, but the bigger story is what the Torcal represents: Bentley preparing for its next era. If it delivers on the promises of craftsmanship, effortless performance, and groundbreaking luxury, this could become one of the brand’s most important launches in decades.
