Ducati rarely lets a Panigale sit still for long. The seventh-generation superbike is only two years removed from its World Ducati Week 2024 debut, yet Borgo Panigale has already rolled out a 2027 update that touches nearly every major system.
The Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine picks up a reworked intake, exhaust, and oil circuit, along with taller final gearing and a higher rev limiter. The Front Frame gives up some lateral stiffness in the name of front-end feel, while two new electronic aids target corner entry.
Ducati went after friction and airflow in the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4. A wider silencer, now 1.5 inches across, reduces exhaust back pressure, while a new filter and an intake duct lifted from the Panigale V4 R feed in more air. The oil system also moves 10 percent less lubricant at peak flow, trimming internal losses.
In North America, both models carry the same 209-hp rating as the 2026 bike, at 12,750 rpm, with 89 lb-ft of torque at 11,250 rpm. Ducati measures its gains on the European Euro 5+ version, which climbs 2 hp to 218 hp at 13,500 rpm. Most of that increase comes between 12,000 and 14,000 rpm, peaking at 3.5 hp more at 13,000 rpm.
Revised gearing helps put that upper-rev muscle to use. The sprockets grow from 16/41 to 17/42, and second through fifth gears now rev 500 rpm higher, to the same 15,000-rpm ceiling sixth already had. Longer gearing alone would soften acceleration, but the extra revs let riders hold each gear longer. At Vallelunga, Ducati counted two fewer shifts per lap.
Owners who want more can bolt on the new Akrapovič Full Racing Exhaust PRO. Ducati rates it at 11 more horsepower and 5.2 lb-ft more torque, with 14.6 pounds shaved off the bike.
The biggest chassis change is to the aluminum Front Frame, which is now 12 percent less stiff side to side. Letting the frame give a little more when the bike is cranked over helps the front tire hang on, and Ducati expects riders to notice a more communicative front end that’s easier to pull toward the apex.
The gearing change brings a side benefit: Ducati says it cuts the effective wheelbase by roughly 0.3 inch, sharpening the bike’s response in quick transitions.
Underneath, the two bikes take different paths. The base V4 uses a fully adjustable Showa Big Piston fork, a fully adjustable Sachs shock, and a Sachs steering damper. Spend the extra money on the S and the damping goes electronic: Öhlins supplies the NPX-30 fork, TTX36 shock, and steering damper, with Smart EC 3.0 adjusting compression and rebound on the fly.
The S also gets forged aluminum wheels in place of the base bike’s cast aluminum ones, plus a lithium-ion battery instead of a lead-acid unit. By Ducati’s numbers, it weighs 412 pounds with fluids but no fuel, 9 pounds under the standard V4.
Track riders on the S can raise the clip-ons by 0.4 inch, too. Ducati points to MotoGP, where bars have crept upward in recent seasons, and says the added height improves leverage while easing the strain of heavy braking and fast direction changes.
The electronics package comes from the Superleggera V4 Centenario and adds two new systems, both standard on the V4 and V4 S. The first, Dynamic Engine Brake (DEB), replaces Engine Brake Control. Engine braking is the slowing effect riders feel when they close the throttle. Instead of applying a fixed amount, DEB uses Ducati’s Vehicle Observer (DVO) software to judge how much weight is on the rear tire and sets engine braking to match. It can also apply the rear brake by itself. Ducati says this makes corner entry more predictable and keeps the bike steadier when braking while leaned over.
The second, Race Brake Control, has the rear brake handle a bigger share of the braking. Expert riders use the rear brake to steady the bike going into a turn, and these systems do some of that work for the rider. Ducati says the payoff is later braking and tighter lines. The quickshifter also gets the Panigale V4 R’s calibrations.
Ducati is also opening its Factory Made program to the Panigale for the first time, though only on the V4 S. Buyers can pick from 11 paint options, five of them drawn from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program, or opt for the Corse or Performance livery. Some upgrades can be fitted at the factory rather than the dealership, among them the Front Brake PRO and PRO+ packages, an STM dry clutch, and adjustable footpegs. The standard V4 is offered in Ducati Red only.
The 2027 Panigale V4 lists for $27,995 and the V4 S for $35,995, plus a $1,295 destination charge. That works out to a $200 increase for the base model and $400 for the S over 2026 pricing. Both are expected to reach North American dealers in April 2027.
