The 2026 Ducati Panigale V2 continues the Italian manufacturer’s revised approach to middleweight supersport motorcycles, prioritizing reduced weight and accessible performance over outright horsepower. Completely redesigned for the previous model-year, the latest Panigale V2 features an 890cc V-twin, an aluminum monocoque chassis, and electronics derived from Ducati’s larger superbikes. It sits below the Panigale V4 as the brand’s more approachable twin-cylinder sportbike.
The lineup consists of the standard Panigale V2, priced at $16,995, and the upgraded Panigale V2 S, starting at $19,995 in Ducati Red. The V2 S is also available in Ducati Yellow for $20,995. Both models produce 120 horsepower, with the S adding premium suspension, reduced weight, and additional track-oriented equipment. Rather than offering more power for more money, Ducati distinguishes the two versions through their chassis components and standard features.
The biggest change introduced with the current Panigale V2 was its departure from the 955cc Superquadro engine used in the previous generation. That motorcycle produced 155 horsepower and followed Ducati’s traditional approach of developing its smaller Panigale alongside its flagship superbike. The latest V2 instead uses a dedicated platform built around Ducati’s newer 890cc engine, which debuted in the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 for 2025.
The liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin produces 120 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and 69 pound-feet of torque at 8,250 rpm. It features variable intake valve timing, a 13.1:1 compression ratio, and conventional spring-operated valves instead of Ducati’s signature desmodromic system. Weighing just 120 pounds, the engine is approximately 21.7 pounds lighter than the previous 955cc unit. A six-speed transmission, assist-and-slipper clutch, and bidirectional quick shifter come standard.
Although the new engine produces 35 fewer horsepower than its predecessor, Ducati claims that 70 percent of peak torque is available from 3,000 rpm. The engine’s reduced mass also contributes to the motorcycle’s overall weight savings, with the standard Panigale V2 weighing 395 pounds and the V2 S weighing 388 pounds, both measured without fuel. Ducati says the new generation is up to 37.8 pounds lighter than its predecessor, reflecting its shift toward reduced mass rather than increasing horsepower.
The Panigale V2 uses an aluminum monocoque frame with the engine as a stressed member, while a redesigned double-sided aluminum swingarm replaces the previous single-sided arrangement. Both versions share a 57.7-inch wheelbase, 23.6-degree rake, and 3.7 inches of trail. The standard V2 features a fully adjustable 43mm Marzocchi inverted fork and Kayaba rear shock, while the V2 S upgrades to a 43mm Öhlins NIX30 fork and Öhlins rear shock.
Braking hardware includes dual 320mm front discs with Brembo M50 monobloc four-piston calipers and a 245mm rear disc. Both models roll on 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires, measuring 120/70 ZR17 up front and 190/55 ZR17 at the rear. Seat height is 33 inches, while fuel capacity measures 4 gallons. The standard V2 accommodates a passenger, whereas the V2 S comes in a single-seat configuration.
Despite its position below the Panigale V4, the Panigale V2 features an electronics package supported by a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). This enables cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, wheelie control, and adjustable engine braking. Riders can select Race, Sport, Road, and Wet riding modes, along with three power modes that modify engine output and throttle response.
A 5-inch TFT display provides access to vehicle settings and riding information, with dedicated Road and Track layouts. Both versions include full LED lighting and a bidirectional quick shifter, while the V2 S adds launch control, a pit-lane speed limiter, and a lightweight lithium-ion battery. Optional equipment includes cruise control, heated grips, a lap timer, and smartphone connectivity.
The 2026 Panigale V2 occupies the space between smaller sportbikes and Ducati’s more powerful Panigale V4. Its 120-horsepower output places it below the 209-horsepower Panigale V4, although both share a focus on track-oriented equipment and advanced electronics. The V2 offers a different balance of power, weight, and price rather than attempting to match the flagship’s specifications.
Would-be owners choosing between the V2 and V2 S will primarily be deciding on suspension and equipment, not engine performance. The standard model delivers the same powertrain, braking hardware, and core electronics at a lower price, while the V2 S adds Öhlins suspension and additional track-focused features for $3,000 more in Ducati Red. Both versions represent Ducati’s revised formula for a middleweight supersport, with lighter construction taking priority over the previous generation’s higher horsepower output.
