VW Golf dropping diesel is a blow – but EVs can go the distance now

The eternal straw man argument around electric car reticence is that hypothetical scenario wherein someone might have to leave the house at the drop of a hat and whizz 600 miles to the tip of the country without stopping. 

“Could an EV do that? No, didn’t think so,” argue the sceptics, who so often cite the unparalleled long-distance credentials of their old diesel smoker as the reason they could never make the switch to an EV that might require several charge stops on such a voyage. “My Peugeot 406 HDi does 60mpg and 800 miles to a tank,” they coo. “Try that with your Elroq.”
