ChargePoint now available in Energy Pass

GM EV drivers have a powerful tool in their pockets that continues to grow stronger. Just weeks after announcing Energy Pass, ChargePoint integration is now complete. Building on GM’s broader push to simplify public charging through the myChevrolet, myGMC and myCadillac apps, Energy Pass continues to bring more charging options into one connected experience for customers.

With ChargePoint included in Energy Pass, drivers can access both DC fast charging and Level 2 stations across a leading public charging network. Many ChargePoint stations available through Energy Pass also offer Plug & Charge, helping deliver a more streamlined charging experience.

Energy Pass is a simpler way for GM EV drivers to find, start and pay for charging through the myChevrolet, myGMC and myCadillac apps, without juggling multiple accounts and apps. As ChargePoint and other planned network integrations come online, Energy Pass is anticipated to reach approximately 70% of all DC fast chargers in the United States, based on current network expansion plans. The ChargePoint integration also provides access to approximately 60% of U.S. public Level 2 chargers. The addition reinforces GM’s broader view that convenient access is at the heart of a great EV ownership experience. By bringing more chargers into a unified experience with fewer steps at the station, Energy Pass continues to make public charging easier to use on the road.

More DC Fast-Charging Installations

In addition to simplifying the experience of charging, GM and ChargePoint have collaborated for over a year to expand public charging in key markets across the country, with an emphasis on eliminating ‘charging deserts’ where fast-charging access is sparse. The collaboration has resulted in hundreds of new charging locations, with more on the way. Many feature ChargePoint’s Omniport, enabling drivers with NACS or CCS1 connectors to charge at the same stall, and these locations rank near the top of popular crowd-sourced ratings. Here are some examples:

• Elmwood Township, Michigan: Activated four charging stalls near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, in a county that previously had no DC fast charging.

• Redding, California: Added sixteen NACS and CCS charging stalls along the Sacramento River, near the city’s famed Sundial Bridge.
• Winter Park, Florida: Installed seven highly rated NACS and CCS charging stalls near Orlando’s amusement parks and attractions.
• Upstate New York: scenic destinations like Lake Placid, Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes and Cooperstown are connected via multiple fast charging sites along state highways.
