The 1968 Ford F-100 probably never imagined a future involving carbon fiber, supercharged V8s, and six-speed manual transmissions. Fortunately, nobody told Trick Rides. The Oklahoma-based custom shop has taken the wraps off a thoroughly reimagined classic Ford pickup at the 2026 SEMA Show, and beneath its familiar old-school styling lies enough modern engineering to make a Ford Raptor reconsider its life choices.
Unveiled at the TMI Products display in Las Vegas, this awesome 1968 Ford F-100 restomod goes by the name ‘Tricky’. The custom pickup retains the unmistakable silhouette of Ford’s late-’60s workhorse, although practically everything underneath that vintage appearance has been comprehensively reengineered.
The biggest surprise is its construction. Trick Rides has replaced the traditional steel bodywork with lightweight pre-preg carbon fiber, including custom bumpers and a redesigned front fascia. The company bills Tricky as the world’s first all-carbon-fiber 4×4 Ford F-100, which makes this one seriously expensive looking way to revisit America’s pickup truck heritage.
The Blue Candy finish reveals the carbon-fiber weave beneath, while flush-mounted Fesler glass, custom LED taillights, and Ringbrothers billet hardware complete the transformation. Despite the extensive modifications, there’s still plenty of recognizable 1968 Ford F-100 DNA here, particularly around that awesomely boxy cab.
Underneath the carbon-fiber hood sits Ford’s 32-valve Coyote V8, fitted with a Whipple supercharger. Trick Rides hasn’t disclosed horsepower figures, but the combination promises considerably more excitement than the original F-100 ever offered. Better still, a Tremec T-56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission handles gear changes.
The drivetrain also incorporates a Ford nine-inch rear end with a Pro Iron upgrade, Stainless Works long-tube headers, and MagnaFlow mufflers. A Wizard Cooling system helps manage temperatures, because stuffing a supercharged V8 into a vintage Ford pickup creates some fairly serious cooling demands.
Underneath, a Roadster Shop RS4 chassis provides the foundation for the four-wheel-drive setup, complete with a 2.5-inch lift. Fox coilovers, oversized sway bars, and 35-inch Avix tires wrapped around 20-inch Fuel wheels complete the rugged package. Six-piston front and four-piston rear Baer brakes provide the stopping power.
Interestingly, Trick Rides isn’t limiting its carbon-fiber Ford F-100 to the lifted 4×4 configuration. The company also plans to offer Tricky as a lowered street truck, giving buyers two considerably different interpretations of the same classic American pickup.
Inside, things are equally extravagant. Custom TMI Products leather-and-Alcantara upholstery, Dakota Digital instrumentation, and a Billet Specialties steering wheel modernize the vintage cabin. There’s also a premium Alpine sound system with four speakers and a subwoofer, although that supercharged Coyote V8 might provide a more entertaining soundtrack.
Trick Rides hasn’t announced pricing, and building an all-carbon-fiber classic Ford pickup with this much hardware certainly won’t come cheap. Still, the prospect of a lightweight, supercharged 1968 Ford F-100 with a manual gearbox and genuine 4×4 capability is enormously appealing.
