A Phillip Island farewell and Shanghai finale punctuate the provisional 2027 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) calendar, announced by organizers last week. The championship will visit nine nations on three continents, noting a slow return to form as the WorldSBK calendar will return to the Asian market and visit China for the first time, in what has been a heavily European-based series since the 2024 season.

The 2027 WorldSBK season will kick off at its traditional Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on February 19-21, which is bittersweet for racing fans and riders alike, as the Australian round will be switching to The Bend Motorsport Park for the 2028 WorldSBK season. Riders in the Superbike and FIM Supersport World Championships (WorldSSP) will test at Phillip Island on February 15-16, ahead of the season opener.

Nicolò Bulega of Aruba.it Racing – Ducati. Bulega will move to the FIM MotoGP Championship in 2027 after securing his first WorldSBK championship title in 2026.

The European leg starts at Portugal’s Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (Portimão) on March 19-21. The FIM Sportbike World Championship (WorldSPB) and the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR) begin their seasons that weekend, after a preseason test at the track on March 15.

Closing out the 2027 season is a visit to Shanghai International Circuit in October.

China is the biggest story on the schedule. The championship has never held a round in the country, and Shanghai becomes its first Asian stop since a 2023 visit to the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Indonesia. For three straight seasons, starting in 2024, Phillip Island has been WorldSBK’s lone event away from Europe.

Chinese brands have become a larger part of the paddock in recent seasons, with Kove, QJ Motor, and ZX Moto all competing. The Tilke-designed Shanghai facility opened in 2004 and previously staged MotoGP races.

The World Supersport Championship will make appearances at all 12 WorldSBK rounds.

Closer to the series’ European base, Circuit Ricardo Tormo (Valencia) is back on April 2-4 after 16 seasons away. Along with MotorLand Aragón, it gives Spain two rounds. The ever-popular Circuito de Jerez Ángel Nieto round drops off for 2027 while construction continues at the venue.

Shanghai takes over the season finale slot Jerez held on the 2026 schedule. Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary, which joined the calendar in 2025 and holds a 2026 date, does not appear on the 2027 provisional list. The announcement did not address its absence.

Other venues have been reshuffled. The Czech Republic’s Autodrom Most slides from its May 2026 date to June 4-6, and Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli runs about a week later than this year, on June 18-20. TT Circuit Assen stays in mid-April, on April 16-18.

The British round at Donington Park on July 9-11 is the last event before the August break, and WorldSPB will race at the circuit for the first time.

The French round at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours restarts the season on September 3-5, followed by Cremona Circuit in Italy on September 24-26. Circuito Estoril is the second Portuguese track on the calendar, and holds the final European round in on October 15-17, which also concludes WorldSPB’s eight-event season.

World Supersport will appear in all 12 rounds in the 2027 season.

The FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship features a six-round schedule. Following Portimão, riders head to Valencia in April and then Most and Misano in June. The series resumes at Magny-Cours in September and crowns its champion at Cremona on September 24-26.

The FIM and organizers have labeled every date provisional, which means they are subject to change. Check back for updates.
