If you thought the manual gearbox was dead in the hypercar world, Hennessey just laughed in the face of modern trends. The Texas hypercar builder has pulled the wraps off the wild new Venom F5-M, and it’s exactly the kind of machine enthusiasts have been begging for. With an insane 2,031 horsepower, a six-speed gated manual transmission, and no roof separating you from the soundtrack, Hennessey claims this is the world’s most powerful manual road car.
Making its global debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Venom F5-M isn’t just another special edition. It’s Hennessey’s answer to drivers who think paddles have taken too much of the fun out of driving.
500 HP Isn’t Enough Anymore, And Hennessey’s Super Venom Proves It
Hennessey’s Super Venom Mustang jumps from 500 to 850 hp with only 35 units, showing how far performance has shifted.
At the heart of the Venom F5-M sits Hennessey’s monstrous 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged Fury V8, pumping out a ridiculous 2,031 horsepower. Instead of routing all that power through a lightning-fast dual-clutch gearbox, Hennessey has gone old school with a six-speed gated manual.
That’s right. Every single gear change is entirely up to the driver. The beautifully machined billet aluminum shifter sits proudly in the center console, sliding through a traditional open metal gate with that satisfying mechanical clink enthusiasts love. It’s the kind of feature you simply don’t expect to see in a modern hypercar, let alone one capable of producing over 2,000 horsepower.
The F5-M also receives all of the latest Venom F5 Evolution upgrades, including revised aerodynamics, adaptive suspension, and updated traction control systems designed to make all that power more manageable. Not that anyone will mistake this thing for an easy car to drive.
Adding even more drama is the Roadster body style. With the roof removed, occupants get an unrestricted blast of induction noise, turbo whistles, and the full fury of the twin-turbo V8 screaming just inches behind their heads.
Visually, the F5-M is impossible to miss. The biggest talking point is an enormous 55-inch carbon fiber dorsal fin stretching from the roof scoop all the way to the rear deck. It isn’t there just for looks either, helping improve stability and airflow when speeds climb well beyond 200 mph.
The first production example making its debut at Goodwood belongs to a customer from the UK and wears exposed purple carbon fiber finished with stunning gold accents. Hennessey’s new Maverick personalization division also added unique touches, including a 24-karat gold nose badge, custom “Sheikh” lettering on the rear of the car, and matching embroidery inside the cabin.
Only 12 examples of the Venom F5-M will ever be built, with buyers spread across the United States, the United Kingdom, and other global markets. Pricing starts at an eye-watering $2.65 million before taxes, making it one of the rarest and most exclusive American hypercars ever created.
Hennessey also confirmed the six-speed manual transmission and updated chassis package won’t remain exclusive to the F5-M forever. Future buyers of the standard Coupe, Roadster, and even the track-focused Revolution models will eventually be able to spec the manual gearbox as well.
This is exactly the kind of madness we love seeing. At a time when nearly every hypercar is chasing faster lap times with increasingly complex hybrid systems and paddle-shift transmissions, Hennessey has gone completely against the grain. A gated manual in a 2,031-horsepower rear-wheel-drive hypercar sounds almost irresponsible—and that’s precisely why enthusiasts can’t stop talking about it.
Will it be the fastest way around a racetrack? Probably not. But shifting your own gears while wrestling over 2,000 horsepower with the roof off sounds like one of the most outrageous driving experiences money can buy. Sometimes emotion matters more than outright speed, and the Venom F5-M proves there’s still room for pure driver engagement at the very top of the automotive world.
