• Podium hopes for KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering dashed in late-race contact
Honda secured a runner-up finish in the caution-filled Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120—with the likes of local team MMG’s #93 Honda Civic Type R TCR. This marks their third podium of the 2026 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, and the result also sees Honda remain within striking distance of the Manufacturers’ Championship.

The weekend in Canada began in strong fashion as Honda earned a third-consecutive TCR pole position, with MMG’s LP Montour extending the brand’s streak. The #5 KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering Honda made it a front row lockout, with Rocco Pasquarella qualifying second.

A major incident just 25 minutes into the two-hour race brought out a lengthy full-course caution period. The extended yellow flag resulted in the entire TCR field pitting to perform a short fill on fuel, thus also compressing the driver change window.
MMG surrendered the lead during pit stops, slipping from first to second. TMR also lost valuable track position following a lengthy driver change, falling from second to fifth.

With limited green-flag running remaining, the race evolved into a fuel-saving battle at the front of the field. MMG maintained second place through careful fuel management, while TMR managed to fight their way back into fourth.
At the front, MMG executed its fuel strategy to perfection, stretching its final tank to the finish. Meanwhile, late-race contact altered TMR’s fortunes when a GS-class car struck the Honda in the final corner with just 20 minutes remaining. The damage and lost momentum dropped the team to sixth at the checkered flag.

Quotes
Karl Wittmer (#93 MMG Honda Civic Type R) finished second: ‘ It was one of the hardest races in terms of fuel management. It’s a physical track and you have to deal with tire degradation, which is tough over the course of more than an hour. Once I noticed the cars in front starting to save, I got on the radio and the team confirmed it was a full fuel saving race. From there, you try to extract as much corner speed as you can, but it’s challenging.’

LP Montour (#93 MMG Honda Civic Type R) finished second: ‘This was a very good result to bounce back with after Watkins Glen. It was an interesting start of the race. I tried to save as much fuel as I could during my stint, but hats off to Karl who did an amazing job in the second half.’
